How do they measure the distortion level anyway?

@@Road2Rally not sure how they measure it, but when you look at the Dyno it says "1.0% distortion". That's the level that distortion becomes audible. If NVX was to rate their power at that level it would be a lot higher than they spec. Similar to the numbers he's getting. So really it isn't surpassing what the owners manual states. He's just measuring it differently

a807511 I seriously doubt your ears could detect 1% distortion even while sitting in a parked car, much less at highway speed with road noise. Besides, I don't these amps are intended to be marketed to the audiophile crowd.

If by radio interface you're referring to the wiring harness, yeah you'll still need it for wiring to the speakers and other things. Replacing your radio takes a dash kit, wiring harness, and an antenna adapter. Trenton Hampton A rule of thumb is to never go off Max specs. Read the RMS ratings and go off those. You won’t be making them out in daily application. You can run many speakers off of head unit power, but they’ll always get their true potential off an amp at specified power. Good start brands are rockfords, kickers, Crutchfield type brands. If you want more audiophile quality, go with ampere audio, sundown, DD, or B2 to name a few. A few good sites are Down4SoundShop, soundsolutionsaudio, and sonicelectronix for a more budget friendly with more mainstream brand options. Do lots of research on it if you plan on doing the work yourself. Www.bcae1.com is a great place to learn about all the aspects of the electrical parts and terminology.

you need 6x9's most likely. Get a set of infinity reference or kappa on ebay. they sound amazing. Also JBL GTO series speakers made by same company(harman Kardon)

I just installed the same amp and it gets hot just like yours. I have an NVX JADA800.4 I originally bought but was afraid I'd blow my front & rear speakers. I'm really tempted to use it and set the gain low. The heat build-up really bothers me..

@@bx2tx789 From everything I've read/seen about the VAD NVX4 is they run hot. Williston Audio Lab did a dyno test around 8 months ago and it was running around 110F. I pulled nine out and put the JAD800.4 in I mentioned above.

Was this for the 4ch 400 mini version I have the 500 watts mono block and it not hot I do run it 1ohm I had a skar mini and that skar amp mono did got super hot after 3mins had to return for warranty but not this nvx had a better result. Did install some 5v fans just in case but did this nvx 4ch ever turn off due to over heat protection after how long ? For its size is amazing but full range does get more juice comtinues

Mine does the same thing. It gets so hot. In the florida heat it wouldn’t last a whole trip of blaring music I don’t think. The power is great though and now that I’m running it bridged for just the rear speakers it’s doing amazing

Sounds like you have 9 speakers, meaning 9 channels. To find how many watts, just add the RMS wattage if each speaker together. Yours = 510w RMS so get a 500w RMS amplifier. Amplifinder -> www.sonicelectronix.com/Matching-Subwoofers-Amps good for subs
