I think Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett was the backup QB.

They were a good team in 2001 lost some close games. Are schedule was stacked due to playing in the superbowl the previous year. If we had a regular schedule instead of the toughest, we would've been 10-6 , 11-5 probably just like the next year with the same team!

The two eagles games killed them that year, and they let one get away with the Rams too when Jurevicius bobbled it and had it fall right in Grant Wistrom's hands. The problem that year was the offensive line and giving up the big play on defense.

They should have either won in that Super Bowl championship game against the Ravens 🐦‍⬛ from the previous season before this one ☝️ came around, or better option would’ve been not to have even been in Super Bowl 35 against the Ravens 🐦‍⬛ whatsoever there at all now y’all there! #Facts 🤙🏽✅🔥💯

What was our record at that point that year? After this game and then after the season?

7-7 after this game, but they lost the final two games to the Eagles and Packers to finish the season 7-9.

People like to talk shit about Kerry Collins, and he was a fumbling player who could certainly be oblivious at times, but damn did he have a lot of dumb things like dropped passes turned into interceptions or runningbacks fumbling in the redzone all the time.

While I still obviously love Eli, I think Kerry Collins and Jim Fassel got a bum rap after 2003

@@goblue85 Collins made some dumb career decisions in hindsight. He complained about the move to get Eli, didn't want to play mentor, didn't want to take a paycut. Fair enough I suppose since he was in the prime of his career since he was 30 or 31, but then he goes to Oakland to be the backup... Maybe they looked attractive because they were only a year removed from a super bowl but boy was that team old, and we know how that team collapsed with bad contracts and draft busts. Then you look at someone like Kurt Warner who was ok being the stopgap, played the good teammate, then got to have his pick of teams when his 1 year deal was up, and ended up in a much better spot in Arizona. In retrospect he probably should have stayed with the Giants for one more year with a bunch of players he was familiar with and on a team that was on the up and up, then use that better resume to sign with a better team. The Bears would have been a fantastic fit for him if he coulda landed there, I know Lovie Smith had an infatuation with freakin Rex Grossman though but if he was the starter in 2006 he probably wins a title. The Bucs were still pretty good between 2005-2007, even the Ravens which would have been pretty funny. As for Fassel, I don't know what skeletons he had in the closet but IDK how bums like Norv Turner kept getting jobs but Fassel didn't. He was really good at finding good assistants and getting results out of talentless teams.

It gets painful when you consider how many close games the Giants lost because of these, it's no wonder they would ranked among the top in yardage and yet they couldn't score off a cheap hooker when their lives depends on it.
