NYC 6AM Snow Walk | Bombogenesis Storm Kenan in Queens

A walk through the peak of Winter Storm Kenan, the first major Nor'Easter/Blizzard of 2022. This video was recorded around 6:00AM and I travel through Astoria & Long Island City, Queens. This storm dropped 5-8 inches of snow in NYC. I start from 30th Avenue, turn onto Steinway Street, and then on Northern Boulevard, where the wind gusts reached up to 45MPH. My camera also struggled with the cold and wind, and parts of the footage I had to stabilize in post-production.

Beautiful. The way the snow picks up, helps soften and scatter all light. And what sounds still remain get muffled. Except for the wind. You almost get that small town feeling in the big city when it's like this. Good feeling to step into a warm home or restaurant after a walk like this too.

You endured so much in this day, but it's definitly beautiful to see the nature in it's power. This kind of early walk in the snow can make you reflect on your life. Just flesh and bones in this immensity of creation, but so determened to go through a task till the end. I wonder what your thoughts were :) Bombogenesis is an interesting word and it suits well for a storm like this. You know what's great about walking in snow so early? You leave (and you see) your footprints there :) It's like a statement " I been here " when not many been yet. My blessings are with you always, Kiddie! ❤️

What an incredible difference from yesterday morning and this walk here, the contrast is remarkable, and I have to admit when you got to 34th at the 4:32 mark in the video and I seen the ice cream shop my bones went instantly cold haha, thank you for another wonderful portrayal of New York during this storm.

Thank you for this wonderful video, it brought back many memories of my old stomping grounds in Astoria Queens (Greek Town). Usually I would be at Avenue cafe or The Grand sitting in the outdoor patio enjoying a nice frappé coffee or a ice cold cocktail with friends and family... Richard & Son' store seems to be that rare thing these days in a world of Best Buys and Circuit City's an _independent_ , family-run consumer electronics retailer (I remember a store like that in Toronto, Kromer Radio, that closed down a while ago, which I never went to, but which I miss now.
