In US news and current events today, NYC woman Amy Cooper had her dog off-leash in a section of Central Park that is popular for birdwatching, a section where dogs must be leashed. Chris Cooper (no relation) began filming after she refused to restrain her dog when he asked. 'I’m gonna tell them there’s an African American man threatening my life,' the NYC woman said.
The confrontation in Central Park was posted by the man’s sister, who says her brother left to continue birdwatching after he stopped filming. The NYC Office of the Deputy Commissioner, Public Information noted that ‘police were called to the Central Park Ramble for a report of an assault,' and that no arrests or summonses were issued. The woman in the video has since been fired after the viral video took off online.

This woman deserves more than just being fired. False reporting is a crime, the fact that they’re airing her “apology” instead of mug shot is crazy. (She also needs to check on her dog, it’s clearly showing signs of critical stress from being choked out, it’s also sensing her manic energy and is panicking. The dog could go into a seizure or worse)

Democracy Stifles Debate maybe there are two sides to the story here. Maybe he DID threaten her life before he started recording. But, if that’s the case, it would seem pretty strange for her to be walking towards him after that with him asking her to stay away from him. And why would she be apologizing the way she did if she was really justified in making the phone call to the police and saying what she said? I wasn’t there, but the limited evidence we have suggests that she was indeed overreacting and making a false claim.

Arresting her is just excessive hate, she called the police, the man was right, End of the story. Arresting her for calling in a false reporting is just excessive hate, plus she learned from her mistake (although if that apology was sincere or no we'll never know) so why must you try to make the small problem a big problem (I'm not saying racism is a small problem but from the perspective of the police. A woman called the police because she felt threatened, then turns out she's wrong because she's racist, that _is_ a small problem compared with what the police deal with in worst cases, murders, serial killers, bombers, etc)

@@MaxBashx Because she didn't have any second thoughts while actually doing this. She never thought of talking to him before threatening him over something as small as being asked to leash her dog. If the cops came and shot that guy, they would have made up some story about the guy being agressive. That's why most people just start streaming when they feel they are in danger.

@@MaxBashx It just follows. Her total lack of empathy toward the birdwatcher as well as toward her own dog is more than obvious here. Of course there may be pathological reasons, but neither a phobia this level nor sociopathy are occuring just overnight. With such extremely reckless behavioral patterns it's in her responsiblity to seek and undergo treatment, simply to not be a danger to your fellow beings. However, it's still possible she's genuinely sorry, but do you actually buy it? I don't.

I love how there is all this 'research' done by police that apparently shows that body cams are ineffective?!? Anybody who doesn't want things to be recorded is hiding something. I have come across so many people defending this woman, saying that before he started recording, he was threatening her. Do you know what I do when somebody threatens me? I leave... she wasn't scared if she was standing there calling the cops. We even see her switch to hysterics on the call, in response to nothing at all. Anyway, this is why I have started to stop and record police now. I am also trying to petition for police body worn cameras in my country.

Paul Ranger If he wouldn’t have recorded it and got arrested, it wouldn’t be considered racism. Assault is a serious accusation, imagine telling a cop someone assaulted you and the cop says “nah, I don’t believe you and walks away”. They would detain him, while they get both sides of the story and if needed, they would examine her body to see if she truly was assaulted.

Especially when you see someone like this tell a man she's going to lie to the police on HIS camera. And then she got more and more dramatic as the operator asked her to repeat herself. So I think anything you need to "know" before he started recording is all right here in what we did see.

Well, she later on stated that she realy fell thretened and we cant see what happened before the recording - neither can the police. The police did realy good in not charging her, because in a civilised world you need proof for a claim to be judged. All of us realy cant say anything about what happened - her cracking paniced voice could be the result of her dog she couldnt handle at that moment and who hurted himself further. If the man was that calm before the recording, If he did something while, before or after the recording is uncertain. We only know that in the time of the filming he kept his distance and spoke very calmly while she says - and progress to do so - to call the police on him, while underlining in what seem like she used it as a threat, that he is afro-american (what he is).
