I did some backing vocals for Sir Bob and the Boomtown Rats on The Tube around this time and he was very kind to me, and I have been a massive fan since. So sad he had so much tragedy in his life, what a brave and kind man who used his position, power and success so positively for the world - v well done 👏👏 🙏🏅

He was a handsome chap. All the tragedy shows on his face these days. This man is an important figure. I dig his parables...there's an elegant truth in what he says, no matter how poigant.

Still in awe all these years later. You made a major contribution Sir Bob. Now if we could all do as much as you have accomplished we could get rid of world hunger, poverty and painful death. Hugs and kisses bud. Still lots to live up to.

In the mid 70's one Thursday night I saw this band,The Boomtown Rats.I saw the front man and knew that one day he would be world famous for not just music.I was 14.My father a very straight, respectful, hardworking gentleman found him obnoxious and a waste of space.I said "daddy listen to this man he's so smart"With the rolling of the gentle blue eyes and a knowing smile I was left with those notions.I went off to college and on return one weekend I went into my bedroom and laying on my bed was a life size poster of Sir Bob Geldof. My father never said a word, nor did I.We didn't need to.My father and Bob Geldof are still two of my favourite people.RIP Daddy.I miss and love you every day.☘️

He is such a nice man. I dug his performance in "The Wall". Bob Geldof is a wonderful philanthropist. He's had so much tragedy in his life. My heart goes out to him. I remember being in the eighth grade and Live Aid was such an important event. I was like alright, "Pink" is awesome.

He strikes me as someone who managed to keep his moral centre, for good or ill. And he may hate himself, but we owe him for making all of us notice in the middle of the greed and excess of the eighties what was happening outside of the Western world. We need more people like him, flaws and all...

He couldn't have known how big his efforts would become. He did it, from what I can tell, because he was compelled to. Because his soul made him do it. Those who have done relief work of any sort are sensitive to the "white savior/pat myself on the back" view that can happen at the expense of those we serve and this gentleman understood that long before any type of training was ever developed. He was extremely empythetic. I could give a toss what others think - I believe Mr Geldof is a giant heart wrapped in an imperfect but beautiful skin.

He is an incredibly strong but resilient man with a heart that is consumed with compassion towards the oppressed, the underprivileged, the destitute and those who are in the fringes of the society and I honestly admire him. So blessed is his family to have him as a son and so are his daughters to have him as their father. He is the Irishman who went up against the turbulent currents of his life while most of his fellow countrymen (both men and women) succumbed to hopelessness and desperation by ending their life in their own hands!

Growing up during the time of his music, it wasn’t my thing. Today,40 years later, with the exception of a few songs, one being “Feed the World” which of course is a collaboration of many artists, his music is still not my thing BUT I couldn’t love this man anymore then I do. He is an intelligent, giving, caring man who’s heart is in a place where so many humans need their hearts to be.
