Scott Galloway, Professor of Marketing at the NYU Stern School of Business & Bestselling author, joins Peter High on a special episode of Technovation as we celebrate our 700th episode. Scott shares his goal of becoming the most influential thought leader in the history of business, what that means to him, and how he is stretching his expertise as his brand has expanded into a variety of subject areas across media. Despite his tenure at NYU Stern, Scott has been a vocal critic of the traditional university education model. He explains the rationale behind this critique and what the future holds for education and training. Scott also talks about the broader societal problems that America is facing and while these problems are touted as insurmountable, he makes the case for why they can be easily addressed and solved by what America has to offer. Finally, Scott gives his perspective on the overvaluation of the Tech Giants, why the government has yet to step in, and what scenarios are likely to play out in the near future.

Great point about the struggle to keep up with Tech. You can quickly get in a place where you don’t know what you don’t know.

British BS Corporation will suit him well. For a "non political" guy, he sure has been doing a lot of political signalling in the past year. That's how you please your BBC masters.

2 professionals making $300-$800k have the worse deal? I think they gain plenty from society. The people that have it the worst are people brought up on lower working class families who have no clue or guidance on how to participate in any system that will give them a better life. It’s a major disadvantage that people that come from a pedigree of educated families will never understand.

Great point about the workhorses getting stuck with the taxes...but I don't understand how Scott says we don't have a progressive tax system. The bottom half pay virtually nothing.

I have been wondering if some young people today are struggling to actually make a commitment to some sort of vocational path. Has the internet provided such a perception of “wide horizons” that there is a paralysis of analysis and fear of missing out on something better that they don’t see that they can actually make a good living cleaning carpets…or cyber security…or elevator maintenance.

The only thing I disagree with is social security. In 2008 millions lost homes & savings while corporations got bailed out. Many were too old to start over. Social Security could be based on need. A billionaire doesn't need a monthly social security check.

Real question Why dont men start easing into historically female roles? I dont see capitalism doing much to return man to sole bread winners...or find something to do whilw they automate and algorithim everyone out of the work force.
