NZ’s long weekend weather + July kicks off with a low

A weak cold front moves up the South Island on Mataraki Friday, then falls apart over the western North Island as it heads north on Saturday.
Sunday is fairly settled across NZ with a west to north wester developing for some - ahead of a large low coming in to NZ over Monday and Tuesday of next week. It will be followed by wintry weather coming out from Australia and near Antarctica.
But an enormous high is coming in next week (around July 7).
We have your 7 day forecast for our part of the world.

I fear on the east coast we are in for even worse wet conditions over this next La Niña period, we seem to just swing from one extreme to the next now. Given what’s happening globally this could be bad.

It's a big hard to know where it will be snowiest due to the messy shape of this low coming in (it's going to split in two by the looks of it). But should be some good snow in the southern mountains.

a Jet Plane with stuff coming at the back of it 24 hours after they've called off the search. flying towards Antarctica. I wonder how much it cost to spray that stuff

@@GoldiefromMahia Mahia and Wairoa are right on the flight path between Auckland Airport and Santiago - and they fly from Auckland to the Chatham Islands before turning. I've seen those flights going over Wairoa and am an avid flight geek! Those are vapour trials - condensation caused by the hot exhaust. I know you're thinking it's "spraying" but it's utterly illogical to do it in NZ, over a windy stormy part of the world. And cloud seeding is often invisible, and done at low altitude. Not in clear skies. This is well debunked in NZ.
