As someone is ex-airforce I have to say these guys have not handled this appropriately. Clearly no one is training them on where their authority applies any more. The first guy is just a "General Service Hand" (don't know if that name still applies from 30 years ago), they are civilians employed by the Defence department to do basic tasks but are not actually in the military as such. Notice how the properly trained Military personnel just ignore you as they know their authority only applies inside the facility unless exceptional circumstances apply. The security guy got all excited as something actually happened for once!

@People Behaving Badly NZ Yeah you got it right mate, they are security guards and are bound by the act, they have to wear a badge or show it when asked its a $2,000 fine, but you know that's never gonna happen. As you say probably the only thing that's happened there for years and years, and after there endless training they still stuffed it up, it just show's them as a joke it makes them all look bad, you really do expect the Military to be super professional, well that's what I expect of them anyway. Take care

Lol. GSHs and military security guards. People think this is bad they should see the BS that actual uniformed military people put up with and mostly ignore from them. GSH and military security guards are full of failed candidates, retired dinosaurs, and wannabe Rambo’s.

Amazing how a grown man, in a position of security, can't understand the concept of an ID badge. What is the point of making a badge with photo ID and details if the wearer turns it around or hides it. It boils my piss when they strut about asking people for ID when they won't give theirs even when they are supposed to by regs. Good luck from the UK, don't let it get as bad as it is here.

I think you have a misunderstanding of whats expected in this situation, a Military base has an expectation of reasonable privacy which means your legal right to film there starts to get fairly thin by a legal basis. From that too, only police would have to identify themselves, although only if you are actually being detained by them. Although I don't disagree with what your actively doing, I do disagree with your interpretation and perseved entitlement to what you think you are allowed to do. I'll agree that no one particularly knew how to handle the situation, I'll also add that you weren't entirely sound in your handling of the situation either and I see that going wrong down the line.

Sure I'll say if that's what you believe that's what you believe. Feels like you didnt read a single word, or at least you have put yourself in such an echo chamber, saying that I'm such a moron and "clearly I haven't read any legislation" is the best constructive conversation you can manage. Thanks for telling me what I have and haven't done.

Unbeknowns to him I would be doing something worthwhile only thing is, the corrupt Govt took my 'something worthwhile ' (my occupation) away from me, so now I have to stand on the side of the damn road educating people about the tyranny. As people say highlight the good and expose the bad Its new to NZ and so against our culture, but perfectly lawful, you are not free unless you can exercise you rights, and with out fear of retaliation, in NZ I suggest you don't do it with out a camera in ya hand because the consequences will not be good for you.

There are people who think they own streets, parks and public areas. People who over step their level in businesses everyday. Police, government departments and the military are no different or immune to some people they have being like this either. They are human not machines. I don’t really see a point to this. Except I suspect it adds a little thrill to you day. I suspect these people overstep because they overthought something mattered when it didn’t. As a Canadian ex-army, I see these soldiers/airmen displaying unprofessional demeanor. I thought New Zealanders were better than that. The LEO was a complete ass. Anyone that does not to give there lastname in the performance of their duties do not respect the position they are in and most likely are ashamed of what they do. I mean who cares about policy. Not worth the paper it's written on obviously. To all the armed forces of New Zealand, please show a better respect for the citizens you are protecting. Respect is given when it is deserved. I did not see it here from the staff stationed here or the LEO.

@@kiwifreedom I have a deep respect for those serving or who have served! It is unfortunate that some do not know how to act while in uniform. I also have a deep respect for New Zealanders (I affectionately call "kiwis"). Those who serve are a sturdy bunch, so I should have added that to my first comment. I also have a respect for those LEOs that perform their duties with a firm knowledge of the law and rights of those they serve. It's the tyrants I have an issue with. Just as an aside: I heard on your Linton base audit that you were 60+. Well if that is so then we are from the same generation as I am also (born 1960). Enjoying your audits. Thank you for what you do!

@Jon Samuda As I Canadian's as well mate and people who have served its the ultimate sacrifice, Yes I respect Police as well, but what I am against is bad policing and all aspects of it, unfortunately it is becoming more and more prevalent in our country. at least from what I have seen Canadian police have body cam's our country dosn't and it shows the amount of BS that goes on. Nothing pleases me more than a police officer doing his job properly. Just so you know about 2 weeks ago a guy who had been imprisoned for 30+ years for murder was set free because police hid evidence about the identity of the offender how bad is that, it absolutely disgusts me. All the best

Yeah I'm 60+ a bit past my use by date, just trying to make the place better for my grand-kids and kids and everone else while I still feel I have something left to offer.

@@kiwifreedom I hear that. I am also best used before date. Lucky my wife hasn't read the label (lol). Yup grand kids but by a previous marriage. As I said before I agree whole heartedly with you. Values seem to gone with the wind as the generations have past. Most are still good but it's the ones that aren't the bring the system down. That's why I glad to have individuals like yourself looking after the rest of us. Do you also follow Honour your Oath (Jeff Gray)? He's great also

100%. A guy hanging around an NZ military base, filming without permission, refusing to answer questions when asked. Very suspect. Although this guy technically did not break any laws, the laws can and may change in response to things like this.

I understand you exercising your rights and standing up to government servants with big man syndrome, and but at the end of the day isn't filming our defense forces headquarters the individuals entering and leaving you are pretty much giving away intel to potential enemy states?

Its legal you can film there all day, if they don't want to be filmed, they should build a wall it is up to them to provide the privacy. Its our right to do it. If they wanted it secret they should have put the building on the Trentham camp grounds there are plenty of places you can't see there
