Great rules. Only criticism of the rule book (besides the annoying reversed pages) is that many of the illustrations are purely eye candy and don’t help at all with explaining the rules system. Always bugs me when authors do that as it’s basically a waste of space.

I really like James Holland as an author Normandy 44 behind you. Man, you’ve changed your view and appears you have a great library.

Spot on review, Scott - very nice job indeed! OG has become my go-to WW2 ruleset, unless I’m playing skirmish, then it’s CoC. Two minor dings I would give the game are that the rulebook could have used another round of proofreading. I take your point about the fact that the Brits and the Yanks are “ two peoples separated by a common language”😁. However, there are some spelling and grammatical errors that I believe fall outside of that purview. I have seen this in other TFL publications as well. The other thing I would have liked to see is the rally table on the QRS. I know those pages are crammed full of tables already; but, I had to print out the rally table from the book, which was a little bit of a pain. All that said, this is an amazing set of rules that are very intuitive. You really feel like a battalion commander. The individual nuts and bolts of combat fade into the background, leaving you free to ponder the overall picture.

I’ll admit I tend to ‘speed read’ a bit and often completely miss spelling and grammatical errors initially. It’s not until I go back to really dive into an aspect that I discover the errors you’ve alluding to. Good observations. 👍

My understanding is that there are two Eastern Front supplements plus a North Africa Western Desert supplement in plan…probably with Far East later…

Excellent review Scott, it’s a very good set of rules that’s packed with command choices. I completely agree with you, the spotting die mechanic is brilliant and should be used a lot more in different rules sets. Take care mate 👍

Apparently the page numbering issue came about due to the last minute addition of a full page advert inside the front cover. That shifted the rest one page right. It’s a shame as the rule sections are also written vertically down the outsides of the pages. You’re better off with the pdf.
