If it is a skimmer which rises up from the bottom of the pond, you could try cutting the riser pipe by about 5cm to prevent it running dry.

@pondguru ok, i try my english: (with google translator) For me, the skimmer is always high so that the pump runs dry. The reason I do not know. Being aware of the problem? Can anything be done about it? Thank you!

Hallo, ich hab da eine Frage, bei mir geht das Teil einfach so unterdem Betrieb hoch, sodass die Pumpe Trockenläuft. Kann mir jemand dazu ein paar Tips geben warum das so ist? oder wie man das stoppen kann? Danke!

The problem with it is that it clogs up really fast. It could use a bigger basket and a stronger motor. Otherwise I recommend it.
