This is my re-imagined version of Noel Gallagher's 'A.K.A. What a Life', with my custom-built AI Liam Gallagher singing on it - augmented with huge guitar parts, as if it were an Oasis track released some time between Dig Out Your Soul and High Flying Birds.
My first attempt at this track didn't work well at all. I couldn't sing it flatteringly in Liam's voice, and AI Liam wasn't taking to the high notes anyway. So, after trying a few things, the solution was to bring the key down by two semitones. I try to avoid key-changing tracks with these for a few reasons - mainly because it makes them sound a bit flat and dull. When I finally had a full take of Liam on the track, it just felt like something was missing....
So, the idea was to bring a bit more Oasis to the track, adding more driven DOYS style guitars, and re-mixing the track to hopefully get it to sit better with Liam's on vocals. Let me know what you think! This was a bit of a fun experiment, and it took way longer than it should have for what it is. Hopefully normal programming with resume for the next track.
You're hearing a combination of Noel's original vocal and my vocal, running through five separate vocal models all trained on specific clips that give softer or beltier tones. The reason I use my own vocal rather than all Noel is to add some of the specific vocal articulations that make Liam's singing voice unique. Also, the AI model inference doesn't do very well with vocals ripped straight from the original songs.
As mentioned before, I've now recorded vocal takes and done inference for Noel's entire solo career so far, and I'll be uploading them all soon. Get subscribed so you don't miss the rest!
