What Disney has done to Star Wars breaks my heart more then anything else. My son is approaching the age I was when my father introduced me to Star Wars. When I asked my Dad what happened to Luke after Return of the Jedi he said "I don't know there are no more movies". My imagination ran wild with all the fun and exciting adventures he would go on. Not once, did me, or any of my friends view the prequels, and see Mace Windu as a black character. He's just a character, that happens to be black. He was also a complete badass. Lando was cool. Padme and Leia were great female characters. Every character in the latest films was shockingly poor, as was the direction generally. This show is full of cringe storyboarding and massive, visible plotholes. There are some great moments, but the immersion just completely collapses. "The force is female" What an embarrassment. Symbolic of their lack of creative ability and direction. A teenager could point out why trying to push "the force", either jokingly, or in an encouraging sense, as a gendered idea, is just pure stupidity.

The themes of Star Wars are poorly understood because of the lack of classical education of modern writers and critics, as well as the change of societal values from community based to personally based.

Fun Fact. That's not the definition of Racism. When the OT came out (in theatres, for the 1st time), as a sci-fi geek enthralled by the '50s sci-fi fliks (still am, bless there B-flik little hearts) and Star Trek TV series, I was certainly excited to see what would be provided. I very much enjoyed the films but was not what you would consider a "Hard-core fan". That actually changed, only when the prequels were released and my Daughter and I enjoyed them together, after I pulled out my dvds of the OT for us to watch in prep for these new ones. We really bonded over the OT and though we recognized the issues with the prequels, we could still enjoy them. When the sequels came out, I was quite excited for "The Force Awakens" and remember being sorely disappointed with how it so closely copy/pasted from "A New Hope". Then the absolute disaster of "The Last Idiot" spewed forth and I saw the writing on the wall. The new caretakers had not only "subverted my expectations" but also gave clear indication that they HATED the OT and were hellbent on deconstructing and destroying every wonderful characterization they provided. I don't know why they did it but they seemed to do it with gleeful purpose, as "The Rise of Mary-Sue" was the glaring stake to the heart delivered to their supposed vampiric boogymen. Why ANYONE would have thought they would have a change of heart and course correct for "Obi-Wan Can Blow-Me" is totally mystifying. Kenobi and Vader were the last two ICONS they had yet to destroy, so they dedicated an entire SERIES to make that happen. Let that sink in for a minute. An entire series, to display these two beloved characters as weak, incompetent fools. This was not by accident but entirely by design. Kennedy/Disney DESPISE Star Wars and have grown very very rich despoiling it with the support of the "FANS", who paid them handsomely to continue in their efforts. This Title, has no future. They have salted the earth so heavily that nothing will ever grow from it again. Sorry, it's very sad but it's very true... Only a fresh field, cultivated by a totally different owner, has a chance to blossom once more.
