"when social justice goes wrong." Naaaah, this went exactly as it should have. Someone(else) thought they could put hands on a comedian, while he's on stage in the middle of his act. Yo, I work as a meat cutter in a grocery store and I got in trouble a few weeks ago. A regular customer, who is extremely liberal and tries to have conversations with us employees about political and social issues, was rambling to me about Trump. It was typical "orange man bad" shit. After a couple minutes of smiling and nodding I had enough and said, word for word, "OK well I don't like talking about this stuff and have to get back to work. Have a good night." and they walked away without saying anything. A few minutes later the manager in charge came up and asked what happened so I told her. She said the women went to customer service and said that I was very rude and that my company shouldn't hire people who support bigotry. The next day I had to have a meeting with my store manager because the same customer called corporate and made the same complaint. These people are insane.

But the cute girl who worked there for months, I saw her take at least a few bad checks during my tenure, But I, as a white male, without breasts or a butt for the manager to look at on the cameras... got fired by said manager, clearly because he likes eye-candy when he was spending a lot of time looking at the cameras at home... But I just chalked it up to dude being a pig, I didn't cry that the system was against me... (even though its becoming more anti-white-male by the day.) I mean, it's done a lot of good for human rights, women's rights, workers' rights. It's just completely lost its way in the past 50 years or so.
@TheNinthLord
@TheNinthLord 2 жыл бұрын
@@viljamtheninja Yes, but unfortunately the word changed. When people say social justice as something noteworthy, you expect something now. We have an image, not complete, but there. When we refer to social justice now, what are we talking about? Worker rights? certainly not the trades, it mostly comes down to enough diversity at the top, and forget everything else. Women's rights? What rights does a woman not have? There are problematic scenarios, but there eventually has to be an acceptance that society can't control everything. Human rights? I feel that there is active component of taking away rights to make things less 'problematic'. As sad as it is to say, you don't want to give those ideas to the new concept of social justice. It will used as credence and eventually sink with the ship. I would hate to regress as a society over this. Definitions are important and any decent conversation can't be had if we're using different meanings.
@TheNinthLord
@TheNinthLord 2 жыл бұрын
@@roseparade_ Unfortunately I feel misheard. I was arguing on the merit of definition that not everything that would be considered 'social justice' is a problem with what is in the image. We are human and have to infinitely refine a system, which can never be perfect for we are human. I was stating the idea of what is meant v. what was represented. It was even mentioned that I don't believe all social activism is bad. My examples were focused on: Why not care about diversity across the board (Trade and infrastructure are important)?, the feeling that women's rights has lost any real context on what they're moving for, and the importance of universal human rights before censure. As for people being equal is not true, I recognize this. I mean women don't have to sign-up for the draft (kinda important with modern events). Minorities get preferential hiring. (It may be necessary and/or harmful). It is not like one group has one perfect system and everyone is pushed out. Currently there are thousands if not millions of problems for every demographic, but has anyone cared about a majority of them? Your position in life has pros and cons, use whatever helps you. Just for the discussion for a specific topic: Roe v Wade, I have mixed feelings. On one hand, I would hate to be a child raised in household that a) didn't want me or b) couldn't afford me. Both are horrible situations. It is a mother's body and why should she be forced to go through if not desired. I also don't want to force single mother households, which has been statistically proven to be one of the worst predicting factors. But also it is a life by any useful definition. In any description we cast to justify why a fetus isn't a life wraps in unwanted groups, and maybe we have to expand to talks to the broader ideas of euthanasia for people. I'm willing to have that talk. I'm also annoyed how men are left out of the abortion conversation. It takes two to make a child, men only have 2 forms of birth control (condom or vasectomy), and why is the choice fully the woman's after the pregnancy. Why should such a monumental choice in my life's future be taken from my hands? I hope the decision helps expand the conversation, but I doubt it. In truth, I don't care about Roe v. Wade, because in the end: I went from not having a choice to not having a choice, so nothing lost or gained.
@TheNinthLord
@TheNinthLord 2 жыл бұрын
@@roseparade_ I expressed my opinions on both sides. I said I have empathy for the child, empathy for the mother, and empathy for the father. I expressed the need for more conversation and debate on the topic. I also stated I have no firm position on the topic from a lack of knowledge/experience. I would not say childbirth isn't a major thing in any since. I've seen the graphs on pre-modern deaths of children and women. For the record, "I wanted the law to be updated and changed, not just repealed." I merely stated this is not a topic I personally willing to argue over. It isn't my fight. To immediately try and tear down my humanity to argue a point isn't helpful or appreciated. I have concerns on both sides and am willing to re-evaluate my views at a later date with new information and better grasp of the philosophical implications. Note: I never insulted you or even said you're wrong in any way. I expressed my opinions and clarified my position. Honestly the only claim that I made that I think is possibly offensive is the fact I said what about the father's feelings. Imagine losing a child you wanted or being burdened by one you don't. It is a choice that should be made together, maybe not 50/50, but together. There are more than 1 viewpoint and no objective answers without perfect predictions. Believe it or not most people are trying to do the right thing, it's important to look at the other sides to grasp a concept.

@@roseparade_ Guess what, that "bloke" is the father of the child and also deserves a say in the matter. And we wonder why the people in charge now are so soft. Never mind getting bullied, that's one thing, but getting bullied and being told NOT to defend yourself is just unnatural.
