There’s a saying “rome wasn’t built in one day.” Just like OCD take your time….I’ve learned to not put a date on it.

Hey there, I'm in constant fear of doing things wrong. I'm a medical researcher and opt for great things. This new enemy of mine as called OCD and intrusive thoughts is draining my life of me. I lost my confidence, I doubt my memory and actions almost instantly. I close every instrument , place sensitive objects such as antibodies and then don't believe I've done that and fear the whole night about it . I add reagents to cells and instantly fear that I might have not I might have jumbled between plates. I cross by a fridge and fear that I might have opened it. I constantly check and recheck. I keep on looking to my microscope at the closed shutter that I have switched it off but yet don't believe. and then go frantic about it. I fear every Friday since I have to be away from the lab for 2 days and who knows what will happen, I miserably spend the two days crying and thinking for ways to end my life if something wrong happens. I'm never able to leave the lab on my own, but I employ someone else to confirm. even then I'm not satisfied. There's many more ways that I've screwed my life. I cant even explain how happy I could be if these fearful thoughts and doubts don't come to me. I never used to be so , I've always been one of the best students in class to execute scientific experiments but now I see myself failing to myself everyday for the last 6 months. I don't want to reveal this loser me to anyone and recover before anyone notices.

Thanks for your appreciation, but this trouble is taking me down, reducing my productivity sometimes. I wish it to end as soon as possible.

@@arpitadutta6737 Please, know that you are loved, and that your worth is not measured by your productivity by any means... nor your hardships. I hear you are struggling. It must be unbelievably difficult... you don’t walk this road alone. May you be blessed.

arpita , i am also going through same scenario. The best way out is to accept the uncertainty. There is always a chance that things will go wrong, accept it and move on, don't fight it, it will only grow.
