beautiful work. the only thing that would have made it even better is if the chess pieces were ocean themed as well. for example - sea horse for the knight, a coral tower for the castle, etc.

@@WoodSeason My mother was into ceramics when I was young teenage. She made me a full set of chess pieces, Both with a white background color, but one was greenish tint, other was redish tint. KIng and Queens are appx. 3 inches tall. YEARS later, I found a coffee table 3ft square, and turned it into a chess board. I found ceramic tile 2"square for the board, the same color as the chess pieces. I still have this today. I am moving broad very soon, I need to sell it. I would love someone who loves the game as much as I do to come get.

Nice problem solving and techniques - making sure all the shells won't release bubbles, sealing the wood, flood coat to level. Well thought out.

I know you've already done the chess pieces, but I can honestly see someone make a set of chess pieces where their designs are based off of aquatic mythical entities! like the Knight pieces being a Hippocampus, Mermaids being the Pawns etc. to go along with this! :D

Very nice. The only things I would change would be a bit bigger shell border, and I would actually lift the playing field above the border so it was like an island above the water.

Great job. I think it would be a lot better if instead of wooden blocks, you could use a dark sea material that would add more to the sea theme. For example: dark river stone blocks, shiny grey seashell (interior), seaweed, black sand or pebbles.

@damianmlegacy7311 Yes, it has to be a block. When I said shell, I meant it to be turned into a block of course. You ever seen those islander shell crafts where they used flat shiny shells into their products? Imagine if you can somewhat turn a black shiney shell into a block. Then, that would be a unique looking block like a black pearl. But maybe I'm just overthinking it.

I wish I had the know how to create a board with alternating epoxy squares connected to a single-board computer that could play a game with the owner. Sensors in the bottom of the pieces would tell the board where all the pieces were and lights beneath each of the squares would highlight which piece the computer wanted to be moved where. Ultimately, the idea would be a board that can teach kids how to play chess, bring down the price-point as much as possible, and sell it in toy stores. Last I checked, there was nothing like that in the local stores, and I think it would help kids build confidence in what is ultimately a social competition where you don't actually have to talk to your opponent to establish a connection.

Fantastic! It’s amazing how every single decision makes an art piece different. Like I was wondering why you didn’t leave the edges in the lighter blue but then later you added the lights👌. I see many saying it would be better with sea creature pieces.. I love it with original pieces. I’d be confused trying to figure out what is what😂😂 I’m sure for a purely display setup it would look great but I’m not just looking.. I like to play chess with my kids. Everyone should be teaching their kids how bc the maneuvering/strategies they learn help them later in life. My grandkids are nearly old enough for this and I’m excited for them. Side note: when I was a little girl maybe kindergarten or a year before my babysitters were always having me play chess.. his name was Bernard and we played some pretty time consuming games 😅 his wife Mercy was the best authentic Mexican cook ever. They filled my days with great food & chess ❤

Outstandingly beautiful,😮 and very unique,, the LED makes a lot of difference ,, even though the chess set is beautiful as it is,, it would also be cool with aquatic chess men,, like sea horse, shark for the king so on,, wonderful job.
