Rusty (Brad Pitt) teaches his friends how to call a bluff but is served a surprise by Danny (George Clooney) during a high-stakes poker hand.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
A rag-tag group of con artists and ex-cons team up for the heist to end all heists in this high-profile remake of the 1960 Rat Pack favorite. As with its predecessor, Ocean's Eleven opens with its titular hero Danny Ocean (George Clooney stepping into the Frank Sinatra role) eager for a new challenge. The similarities to the original end there, as Ocean conspires with his old pal Rusty Ryan (Brad Pitt) to rob 150 million dollars from an underground vault that serves three of Las Vegas' biggest casinos. Between the two of them, they recruit nine other men, each with his own criminal specialty, to assist in the mission: moneyman Reuben Tishkoff (Elliot Gould), card dealer Frank (Bernie Mac), pickpocket Linus (Matt Damon), aging con artist Saul (Carl Reiner), British explosives pro Basher (Don Cheadle), techie Dell (Eddie Jemison), rude-boy brothers Virgil (Casey Affleck) and Turk (Scott Caan), and professional acrobat Yen (Shaobo Qin). What Ocean doesn't tell the group is that there's another reason he's coordinating the heist: the three casinos they're robbing are all owned by ruthless gambling mogul Terry Benedict (Andy Garcia), who just happens to be married to Ocean's former love Tess (Julia Roberts). Ocean's Eleven was updated by scribe Ted Griffin and marked the third feature shot by director Steven Soderbergh under the alias Peter Andrews.

The movie is subtle in many ways. Danny refers to this con later when he tells Rusty that he's been "Cold decking Teen Beat coverboys". (which slightly hurts Rusty's pride) The implication being that in this scene Rusty manipulated the deck and dealt Danny 4 nines and then scammed the group for $3000 a piece in river card raises by pretending to be their friendly advisor. The only doofus hollywood kid who wasn't scammed was the one who folded to Danny's initial $500 bet. Everyone else got burned as they chased their losing hands.

Yeah the first time I watched the movie this went right past me. Then I realized they worked a con. It's a great scene, especially since they hadn't planned it in advance, they just had that kind of chemistry with each other that they could fall right into a work like that and not skip a beat.

@@neivakylla the celebrities didn't know that George Clooney and Brad Pitt already knew each other. They were going on Brad Pitt's guidance thinking that Clooney was a stranger who stumbled in on the game and this way he was able to get them to cash in and got the pot really high, which George Clooney won, and they both split it between them.

In an earlier scene a guy ends up sweeping up the pot because he thinks that all of his cards being Clubs, counts as a hand. I think the implication is that, despite Rusty's tutelage, these guys are as bright as a burnt out light bulb.

If you watch this movie there are several times they are saying that Brad Pitt is just hustling celebrities. this has nothing to do with Mollys Game.
