In this video I’m going to cover the most important aspect for beginner surfers, and that is ocean safety. I understand you just want to go surf, but it is extremely important as you will not be the only person out in the water. I’m going to cover general ocean safety and also give you some pointers on how to keep the people around you safe as well. Once we get through this, we’ll move onto what you came for.
Thanks for watching. Good luck and stay stoked, yewwwww!

Got caught in a rip current recently and lost my board because wasn't wearing a leash. Lifeguard had to come in and save my kooky ass. The ocean is no joke, and I should've been way more cautious before paddling out.

GAMING _LIFE Its when a large body of water pulls you away from the shore towards the ocean. You can just be really close to the sand one minute and 5 minutes later you're deep in the water.

GAMING _LIFE a rip current is when two waves collide and pull you out to the ocean SUPER fast. You have to learn to recognise them so they don’t drag you out

Great tips. I always take a quick selfie and send it to the fam before I head out (with my location and timeframe). This helps so that if I go missing they have a pic of me (in last seen wetsuit and board) to provide any first responders.

I love this video, very informative, if anyoen is just starting surfing or has a buddy thats just starting I'd send them this video. The end of informing someone where you are and what you're wearing / colored board is super useful! The last thing you want is for your family to always wonder what happened to you if somehow you die surfing and never even told anyone you paddled out. Let your parenst/friends where, when, and what you'll be surfing,

Deeply looking forward to having a go this summer... But I am a little cautious as I have some muscular difficulties... Are there places to go for someone to learn with disabilities?... Do we have any disabled surfers??

Sorry I don’t know of any places in particular, but I’m sure they exist. If you find any, let me know - I’d like to support them. I will do some digging as well.

when you talk about getting drifted out to sea, do you mean by a rip current? How far have you seen people get pulled out and how common is this among surfers of different experience levels? How hard is it to paddle back in after getting pulled out so far?
@JasonKlunk
@JasonKlunk 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, rip currents during bigger swells when there is lots of water moving around. Every spot is different so it's hard to say, but it happens a lot when people go out on days when they really shouldn't be out in the water.

hi!!! I have two thing to tell you. first one is pleace, don´t delate this video and second is that I have a question, can I start with a surfboard that has a lot of buoyancy and is wide, but is short and has a pointed touch, ut no like a professional surfboard? Tranks, I love the video, especially the first tip, hahaha. See u. (sorry about my grammar but I am not a native of english hehe, I am learning)
@JasonKlunk
@JasonKlunk 4 жыл бұрын
haha, thanks - I won't delete it. As long as you feel comfortable paddling and are able to get into waves, it should be fine to start with.

It's good to have a healthy amount of fear when you're dealing with the ocean, it's a powerful place. But, if you are prepared and know your limits, then you'll be just fine!
