Woah this is so simplistic; yet possess such amazing quality! Thanks for the tutorial Odin! Definately going to try and make this for a friend who's obsessed with these games and has a birthday coming soon! :D Would you consider making one or any of the Precursor Artifacts from the Assassin's Creed Franchise? Y'know; like the Apple Of Eden, Sword Of Eden, Shroud Of Eden, Flickering Blades, Moonlit Shield?

I've finally finshed making this prop; both the way Odin makes and the other with your advice; I must admit the latter looks much better! Its very rare that such great advice is given over youtube comments; but the subscribers of this channel never cease to amaze me with their kindness/advice! :'D I never knew that you could remove bubbles from gel-like liquids with heat and small amounts of water.... then again I'm fairly new to prop-making so thats probably the reason why. :P

once again, very simple yet very cool. I would add a couple of LEDs to the bottoms of the acrylic rods to make it light up, these would be amazing prop shelf items

It’s a lot more DIY, but there is a series called DIY costume squad that did an entire predator costume, you could probably just use now advanced materials

I never thought it would be so simple to make, but I am still glad that you made it in red, blue, and green. Now, see if you can build Darth Vader's helmet or Kylo Ren's helmet.

Only way I can think of to take this a step further is to draw a guideline for the spiral on the pipe so that the helix can have simitry (sp?). Gorgeous quick build Sir!

Very nice. I also did this making them a bit more handheld size. I used clear acrylic tube for the outside. Crazy straws for the helix. back then i used near boiling water, for my second set I used colored acrylic rod. for the caps my first set were a pair of old brake caliper pistons from an older yamaha motorcycle. For my second set I used aluminum curtain rod ends.

War Robots reminds me of the place called Virtual World. You go to the place, sit in a cockpit and play robots like the Mad Cat, Thor and others. You can choose the armor and weapons. Most fun I have had playing a game. :)

you should make the injection gun, use what you did here but make the colored tube hollow, add water and when you press a button the tube clears

Just a tip to anyone planning on doing this: The reason some parts of the double helix look uneven is because when bending the tube by hand, each twist comes out with slightly different spacing between the levels, which becomes very apparent when you put the two helixes together. You can avoid this by keeping a spacer (For example, a block of scrap wood) between the twists as you're wrapping the tube around the pole. This should ensure that both helixes come out identical. Good luck :)

I like it! Darksunrise is right. A spacer, or even a line on the wooden pole would help. Practice does too, I was happier with the green one (the last one I did) than the others. The real prop I got to look at earlier this year, and it was wound by hand and uneven!

A cool non movie addition that would be cool, install a low power aquarium bubbling tube hidden in the bottom cap between the double helix. Design a part that mount to the top cap and acts as a air vent and hide the tubing in a cut out under the table. Reinvent the prop. Make the water have a yellow tint.

Could even take it a step farther, since the tubes are hollow you put in for the T-virus, you could inset a small LED light in the top of each tube and have the batteries and wires hidden in the cap that you made for the vent. I too make sci-fi props.

Seems like it would have been easier to soften and coil them both on the same rod, possibly one after another, in order to make them line up better. Possibly with something to keep them in that configuration put in place before taking it off of it.
