I love how the film establishes the impact of the war on the siblings and takes a moment to show the evacuation program of children under 14 and how mothers had to act brave when sending their children off to strangers in the countryside, while also dealing with their husbands away at war as well as staying behind to support the war effort and ensuring there’s a home for everyone to return to… the book just has one sentence saying they were evacuated because of the blitz as when it came out no more explanation was needed

@@wwhn absolutely, it also helps understand the relationship dynamics between the siblings too, such as the parentification of Peter and Susan and how Edmund’s insecurities make him lash out while Lucy looks for the silver lining in any situation

To answer some of your questions on the wardrobe and Ed’s behavior: Basically the idea of the magic in the wardrobe is it only becomes a portal when you’re not looking for it. That’s why it didn’t work when they checked it the first time Lucy came back saying Narnia was in there. Then when her and Ed went, Ed still didn’t believe and she didn’t know he was behind her, so he wasn’t looking for it either; it really opened for him, not her. Then the last time with all 4, they were all were just looking for a place to hide like Lucy the first time. There’s a post-credits scene where Lucy goes back into the room in the middle of the night and the Professor is there and tells her he already tried and mentioned this same theory. As for Ed snitching to the witch, they didn’t make it clear in the movie but in the books I feel like I remember there being a line to imply that the Turkish delight she conjured for him to eat was spelled to kind of amplify his cravings for it, to the point of doing anything at the promise of more; in his case, betray his family. Then after the witch shows her true colors, his compassion for others starts to unfortunately backfire because every additional time he gave her information, in his mind he was scared and trying to give her what she wanted to spare Tumnus and Fox’s lives. But clearly him being a child and underestimating her malevolence worked against him.

Aslan represents Jesus, and the 4 children represent the descendants of Adam and Eve The Professor was the main character of the 6th book released (it's a 7 part book series), and the 6th book is an origin story of Narnia, and the professor was actually there when Narnia was formed and met both the witch and Aslan

New to the channel! To answer a few of the questions I think you had… and adding a couple thoughts… 🙈 1. The professor knew about Narnia because HE went there as a little boy! He was actually there for Narnia’s creation, when Aslan sang it into existence. Since time works differently there, only the Professor’s lifetime has passed in our world, but centuries have passed in Narnia. 2. The Narnia books ARE heavily based on Christian themes. Like you mentioned, Aslan dies for Edmund’s transgressions, like Jesus died for our sins. He rose again like Jesus rose again. Once a king or queen of Narnia, always a king or queen; once saved, always saved. 3. Even though it is allegory at times, the whole premise of this series is basically, “What if our world isn’t the only world that God has made?” 4. Aslan IS Jesus. In the third movie AND the corresponding book, Aslan tells the children as they’re going back to our world, “In your world, I have another name. You must learn to know me by it. That is why you were brought to Narnia: that by knowing me here for a little, you may know me better there.” 5. This movie has had a HUGE part of my heart ever since I was little. ♥️
@wwhn
@wwhn 3 ай бұрын
omg thank you so much for this!! the clarity that this brought me is..wow! I honestly love the parallels but the one that sticks out the most is the, “in your world I am known by another name…” for the writer to create an entire world like this based off the christian religion is astonishing because it’s so very subtle yet done beautifully!! Thank you so so much for this again!!

the wardrobe is magical because it's made from a narnian tree! When Professor Kirke was a boy he got to see the creation of narnia (and a bunch of other stuff happened) and he came back with the seed of a tree. He planted that tree and many years later, it was stuck by lightning, I think. So he cut down the tree and made a wardrobe of it. Now, Professor Kirke probably knew it had *some* magic, but he probably didn't know it could be a portal to Narnia.

To me it never gets old. And I’m so glad you even picked up the storytelling of their costumes! I’m also happy to see other Narnia fans here sharing fun facts about the books! They are written so beautifully. There’s so many great quotes that are heartwarming, funny, emotional and inspiring! ❤ And yes most definitely give the last two movies a try! The next two films aren’t completely canon to the books, but the themes are still there and I give them credit for creating it since they were difficult to adapt to screen.😊 Here’s my fun facts: Edmund is my favorite Pevensie sibling. His character development and depth is beautiful. In the books they actually earned their titles during their time of reign and Edmund was in charge of diplomacy and he was always wise, fair and compassionate. So they called him “The Just” 🤍 There are neighboring countries in Narnia and we get to see them interact with foreign royals as well! 👑 Queen Lucy and Queen Susan had many marriage proposals too as it describes that they grew up beautifully with flowing long hair. 👸✨ They left before marrying anybody tho cuz it would’ve been awkward leaving your man and kids behind 😭 And my favorite color is pink! 🤣🩷 I’m gonna watch your other vids cuz you’re reactions are not only hilarious but really insightful and it’s nice to see another person just appreciate the art of cinema! 🤌 I hope your channel continues to grow! ☺️🌟

I don't think it was answered by others in the comments here (and spoilers for the books) but, the reason why the Witch is after the kids is because she's not human. She's the last of a race of half-demon half-giant people from the red sun world of Charn. When she and her sister fought against each other in the last war of that world for the throne, she was seemingly defeated until she casted The Deplorable Word, an incantation that wiped out all living things in that world except the speaker, making her queen by default. She then takes an enchanted sleep in the hall of wax work images of her ancestors till a visitor from another world wakes her via enchanted bell in that hall. After countless years she was woken by the curious Digory Kirke (who would later be the professor). As he and his friend Polly Plummer escapes her, she was able to catch up to them in the Wood between the Worlds, then to 1990's London (bringing a piece of lamppost with her), and then to unformed world of Narnia, mistaking it for Charn. There they witnessed Aslan creating Narnia. The witch slips away and Aslan confronts Digory for what he had done. Aslan promises that the worst of the evils that the Witch brought to Narnia will fall on himself (his sacrifice) and Aslan makes sure that the country of Narnia will have a happy era before she returns again. He assigns Digory to find a silver apple in the far west and bring it back to plant a Tree of Protection. He fulfills this then Aslan gives Digory an apple to take home to his sick mother. He plants the apple core which grew into a tree (which seem still connected to the three in Narnia). When he was already a professor, the tree was blown down by a storm (which means the tree in Narnia died as well, allowing the witch to return and cover the country in winter for 100 years). He couldn't bear to have it chopped up as firewood, so he had part of the timber made into a wardrobe.

In terms of the king/queenship, it follows the model of Christianity. So Aslan is King of Narnia because he is an analogy for Jesus Christ, but the Pevensie children can also be kings and queens because they are descendants of Adam and Eve (so it follows Romans 8:16-17 that we are coheirs with Christ). Basically, we have an inheritance alongside Christ.

That silence right before the very first clash between the armies in the battle sequence is and will always be one for the books! I love that this movie is literally a re-telling of the Bible and Jesus’s ultimate sacrifice for us. That is so DOPE!! Aslan does not represent Jesus Christ. Aslan is in fact Jesus Christ. He’s showing Himself as a Lion to Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy because He has His ways of doing things and He chose to do this for them. Edmund represents Judas’s betrayal. Turkish delight represents temptation and gluttony. Tumnus represents redemption. The White Witch represents Sin and lucifer. The four children represent Jesus’s 4 apostles. The stone table represents in fact, like you said, the cross.

Not sure if this has already been mentioned but in the books Edmund is essentially drugged by the White Witch because the Turkish delight is actually enchanted/laced, so she's essentially giving him magical heroin lol hence him desperately wanting more, which is kinda fucked up 😭 Also, the slap she gives him is real according to the actors. They discussed it before filming and he wanted it to look real which is why he looks pretty shell shocked afterwards 🫠 Also there's an idea I've seen tossed around that the griffins dropping the rocks on the witches army at the beginning of the battle was Peter & Edmunds idea, since they've seen how effective an air force can be from their experience of being bombed in WW2, although I can't remember if that's canon or not! Glad you enjoyed ❤️

When Edmund eats Turkish Delight, he falls under the White Witch's enchantment. The enchantment makes him so desperate to eat more Turkish Delight that he is willing to betray his siblings to the White Witch. Turkish Delight symbolizes temptation and sin in The Chronicles of Narnia. When Edmund eats it, he becomes enchanted: he is so desperate to get more Turkish Delight that he is willing to betray his family.

Aslan ain’t shit. Basically aslan is supposed to be “god” in this analogy. And he makes them go through all types of suffering to show “commitment to faith” I absolutely hated him as a child.
