Off grid cabin bison hand pump well installation.

Our family has a special off grid cabin in SW wisconsin. We have all the things we need but hauling water back and forth was becoming to much of a chore. We already do rain collection but really wanted a source of fresh clean water on hand especially during drought times. We finally had a well dug but we have to small of a solar system to utilize an electric submersible pump. For now we chose to purchase a bison deep well hand pump. www.bisonpumps...
I could not be happier with the results. My 14 year old son Bear and I did this short video on how easily it installed. I hope this helps a few of you off the grid!

They are the best deep well pumps in my opinion. The only main drawback to the Bison Pump is the new price. When they were invented and built in Maine, the plumbing company that patented and built them charged $500.00 for the pump and set up. A good friend in Maine bought one early on and it’s still running today. When the company sold the pump design and patient off to a company in Arkansas, where they are built now, the price jumped up to $3,000.00 a pump! That price alone has been the biggest deterrent from getting one for quite a few preppers I know, including myself, and left us looking for less expensive deep well pumps. Still, I feel they are the best pump...

I have had no luck finding someone to install a hand pump. Our well-guy says he knows nothing about them.

We couldn’t either! When I looked into the Bison pumps the instructions didn’t look terrible. I just watched the video they produced and did it. I’m not that handy and it was pretty simple and straight forward! You can do it

My generator won’t run my well pump and I’ve been looking for one of these for when the power goes out.

Why not just bury a 1" poly line to house. Then just attach a short garden hose. Pump straight to the cistern

You filled up that bucket pretty quick! It looks like the hole was already dug, I couldn't tell but was there a smaller pipe and then one that goes around it to protect it? How did you find a company that could dig that well hole?

I just watched the install video and checked their website, they don't have any prices listed, roughly how much are they by chance?

So you still have to have a separate well dug?

Yup. We had a well put in but we don’t have enough solar power to run a submersible pump. This solved it! We had been in that “water water everywhere and not a drop to drink” situation before this.

Looks like 43 pumps per 5 gallons, maybe I could design a way for the ole lady to pump that thing with bicycle pedals

I got a bison deep well pump. Super expensive. I thought I would like it. I have a deep well. I can’t pull water up with it!! I paid the the company that dug the well to install the Bison pump. Any advice?? Right now it’s useless!!!😢

That is unfortunate! How deep is the well? This really is the best investment we have ever made at our place. It sounds to me that the installation is incorrect. I would contact the well company that installed it to double check the work. My 13 year old son and I installed ours and it took less than 2 hours start to finish. Our well is 98 feet and our static water line is 21 feet for reference.

@@tightlinesflyshop It's a deep well like that. The water is like 75 feet but the well is deeper than that. I would have to go grab the paperwork. The well casing required us to use the 1 inch drop pipe.

@@Hi-dw6ol I can't imagine it would not work. I am guessing the install is incorrect. Its a pretty simple system. Contact the well company that installed it and ask bison for help. They are incredible with customer service.
