I did a well like this in Florida. The soil was full of clay,clarity never was good,but water was fine otherwise. Def filtered it,but no smell etc. Im putting in another one soon. That was a fine video Brooke....thanks!

Very inspirational video. It just goes to show that with a little passion, compassion, dedication, effort, hard work, the human can do anything. I found your channel a month and a half ago and subscribed and enabled notifications since then. I have watched your videos with the purpose of seeking inspiration. I live in NY, probably one of the worst run states in America. It is difficult to find work because every employer is asking workers to be vaccinated. I don’t want to get political, so I will cut to the chase. I was tested positive for COVID-19 and I was completely bummed out. I was thinking to myself, great… more adversity. I had already lost my grandmother (Non Covid) this year. The one good thing about New York is that there are more hiking trails in the Hudson Valley area that you can shake a stick at. I decided to trek the Breakneck Ridge/Breakneck Bypass, one of the toughest and challenging hikes in the lower Hudson Valley Area. The hiker climbs 1,250 feet in only 3/4 of a mile. I questioned what I was getting myself into at the beginning especially at the first rock scramble. I kept on saying to myself… One more rock scramble, one more rock scramble. There were four total rock scrambles each extremely different. A few scrambles had directional signs pointing “EZ” and “HARD”. I always opted for the “HARD” because life is not easy. Yes, I was awarded with breathtaking and beautiful views of the Hudson Highlands, but my main focus was moving forward and completing the hike. I ended up completing the hike in 2 hours and 51 minutes. This hike is designed to be completed in 3 hours. When I was finished, I realized I could have done more. That there is the innate driven quality of a human. It is something we all have. We just have to find it and release it. Girl in the Woods, thank you again for all of your inspiring videos. Yes, "I didn't know it was this easy to put in a well" Its not, mine is 200 ft through clay and rock, then 285 more through bedrock. No way this would work where I am. 😂🤣

Facilities maintenance engineer here, we use tape AND dope on anything we might want to get apart later on. (Steam lines). They call it sealant but it’s not. It’s a lubricant like this person says. Great project!

There are different kinds of pipe tape for different materials and applications. I grabbed wrong kind before and found out chatting with sales person about what I was working on. Container looks similar I just seen it and didn't read it.

So Mr. Dupont, why would manufacturers put additives in the dope to help SEAL gaps between the threads ??? Why not just use grease or other lubs ???? Did you really work for Dupont ?? I started into plumbing in 1970, just retiring now. I've used teflon dope, permatex a black sticky substance that does get hard. They ALL have some type of additive to SEAL the gap in the threads a LUB at the same time. Teflon tape would be the only choice for PVC, CPVC and other plastics. The chemicals in pipe dope will break down the plastic in time. Young lady, that shallow well may be OK in the wilderness/God's country, most places in civilization don't allow a well less than 25' of pipe plus the point and most require a casted well outdoors and piped into the home and a licence and permits are required. So Mr. Handyman check what's legal and safe before you start, your health may depend on it. Also, young lady, if you put one wrench on the ground and put your weight on the top wrench you'd get the joints tight enough. Driving with a 70+lb. Well driver would loosen the joints and you'd have trouble loosing prime. There's a lot more to having a safe working well than you show in a short video !

@@bobprins2324 very well said. You may not feel the effects of your actions for a few years essentially the years that you want to do something special with. Testing should be a given type attitude. There are regulations and procedures for a reason and some people just want to put it off to too much authority overreach. People like you are overlooked by the majority but at some point people like you are who people will be looking for to get the right answers. Tape lubricates and absolutely fills the valleys of the threads. It is not just for "lubrication" . Even on interference threads like NPT.

Brooke, have you ever thought to construct a windmill pump? Down along the Border Road, between El Paso and Columbus, NM, ranchers have installed these type of pumps.

You probablly found out that Norther Arizona has some of the deepest water tables. Some wells out there are several hundred feet deep unless you can find a natural spring.

I'm looking at a small .29 acre price of land in the Ozarks, still are a must, my brothers house was on stilts, but after out is built I am going to sell it, it had power and water, the lake isn't far. I am puzzled about the foundation, it's going to be tall, like bottom basement nothing, upstairs full house with metal beams at the foundation base, insurance. It has paved road, I hop it's good.

Yes. I have a well with electric and a filter on my property but want to put in a hand pump well like this, just in case. We are on the aquifer in N FL.

It's cuz there's no skool like old skool Mike... ever use the "L" shaped metal rods or sticks to find a pipe? I had a supervisor do it all the time, when I worked road construction. He'd find sewer, water, and every now and then gas. Ole Rusty... I mis that guy.

If you have a stream or river nearby, it doesn't take much to get down to clean water.

Lexington was not hit but I had some family who.was on alert hearing tornado sirens all night. my oldest sister and her husband are in their 80s. spent the other night in basement. they went through tornado alerts before when they used to live in Missouri. Mayfield KY is Gone. destroyed. our governor was on CNN State of the Union Sunday..there are 80 people right now so far accounted for who died in tornado. please keep praying. it's the worst one in Ky history.

We do it just like this all over the bootheel of Missouri. Because of the earthquake of 1812...we generally hit good clean water at 4 ft.

Here's some easy life saving advice that my parents gave me growing up... if you have a basement or storage you can save up water in old juice, or milk jugs or any jug you can. My parents would do this growing up and store the jugs in the basement. When there were power outages in the winter we just grabbed the jugs from the basement and used them for flushing the toilet, washing, whatever. This was before generators were as affordable. But still you wouldn't want to be running your generator wasting gas just to flush your toilet or brush your teeth unless you actually had to

​@@offairhead I have a water well, but the pump is electric. When my electric power goes out I lose water too. So yes, losing water during a power outage is a thing. I also store water in jugs as a backup, and whenever I anticipate losing power (such as when a storm is coming) I catch additional water in bathtub, sinks, pans, etc. Doing this is usually a waste of time, but it has been a real life saver a few times.

That's a sand spear, which can be used in sand. Other ground type will need something more aggressive. Plus getting water through sand is cleaner as the sand is a filter,
