I have seen a lot of homes built by 'professionals' that don't even come close to the accuracy you have shown for your window opening. I have questioned if some of the pro's even know how to use a tape measure. So sweet and simple yet so few practice it.

dave, im turning 20 this december, and i have been wanting to live a more off grid lifestyle where i can do what i want, when i want. i live with my sister, babysitting for her, full time, and i realized that now is the time for me to save up my money, and buy the land i want, and go out and build my dream cabin. i have to save up for about a year and a half to get all the finances neccessary to do so. once i do, im buying the land and moving. i wanna thank you for all the awesome advice you've put out and all the "how to's" and all the truths about what it's really like. be radical

Great show, Dave, welcome back. One of the things I like most about your shows, you use simple tools, common materials, and show the viewer how to build something with quality. It Doesn't take a shop full of Festool tools to turn out quality work, and you're an outstanding spokesman for that concept. My nephew has a Festool plunge/track saw. I've got a 60+ year old Rockwell worm-drive and a plywood guide I made in ten minutes. Both cut equally straight - AND - he would burn up five Festools and that old Rockwell will keep right on cutting!

Lived in a log home up North, every thing Dave said about windows is accurate Caulking outside ,fiberglass in the middle, caulking inside. simple and effective. Thanx Dave.😊

Thank you Dave for stating the fact that some of us are afraid to do some things simply because someone else may say - “ oh you didn’t do that the right way!” I am to the point in my life where I decide on the outcome first and work backwards just like you presented in this video. We need a window and it needs to open and close and not fall out or have wind moving around it. Thank you soooo much!

I thoroughly enjoy watching all of your videos...you're very pleasant in your delivery, and everything you share has a purpose...very little wasted time or words. How to install windows in a cabin has been on my mind. I'm still trying to buy 20 ac. in northern Arkansas with a year round creek to build an offgrid cabin on. But if that falls through(there's an easement issue)...I've looked at several pieces of property in the upper peninsula of Michigan...and really contemplating taking a couple of weeks to drive up there and, like you and Brooke mentioned in another video...put "boots on the ground" to get to see and walk a potential purchase. I'm 62(63 in Oct.), and I'd best be to trying to realize my offgrid dream asap!! God bless you both for your time and efforts in doing these great videos!!

Who doesn't love a good window in a good window hole , they are so clear , unlike a mirror, you can see right through them . I love looking at myself, but I love looking out a window more , you can see birds , squirrels, and sometimes rabbits and deer 🦌 and that's nice 😊 Just like the gaps in the window people should be treated the same , and all have a window of their own ( their or there 🤷‍♂️) thats a damn fine job on that window 🪟 the meaning to life is right outside one , if one just took a look 🍻

Was a window guy in my previous life, log homes & post and beam are real difficult. You are bang on with the log movement. They shrink approx 15% width, and 2% length - each! Over height of building this can be extreme. Also perfect review of the monofoam - can be a nightmare for PVC windows. Well done sir!
