Elephant Hill is located in the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park. It's a fun loop through various little canyons (called "grabens") and includes a 1/2 mile round-trip hike to the confluence of the Colorado and Green Rivers.
In order to capture most of what makes this one of my favorite trails, this video is slightly longer than my target 5 minutes.
Permitting is now required before embarking, so please check with the National Park Service before embarking. Also, the Red Rock 4-Wheelers guide the tour annually as part of the Easter Jeep Safari.

You make some of the best trail review videos I've seen in all of KZfaq. Thanks so much for putting these up!

Thanks!!! Please stay tuned, I still have a few from 2018 to post, trips for 2019, and we are considering setting up a Ghost Town segment (since many Western ghost towns aren't located on off road trails)

Hey I have watched this video and your video of Fins & Things. I am planning to go to Moab in late March in a 1994 Ford F-150 with a 2” lift and 32s or 33s. Do you have any recommendations for trails to hit or to avoid while I’m there? Planning to do Fins and Hella revenge while taking bypasses.

Seven Mile Rim and 3D trail are also great 1st time trails. Chicken corners is great (awesome lunch spot), but it can be very 'washboardy'

@@ForgottenWaypoints Thank you for the reply, I will definitely have to check them out. Do you think I would have too much difficulty on hells revenge if I took the bypasses? Truck is a single cab long bed.

Awesome video! My boyfriend wanted to try this trail but was unsure his truck would fit, we ended up doing the Colorado River Overlook drive instead. I saw you rated elephant hill a 4 and wanted to know what you would rate the overlook drive from the visitor center if you've done that one so he knows the comparison. Thanks!
@ForgottenWaypoints
@ForgottenWaypoints 4 жыл бұрын
I haven't done that overlook before. I need to do a video on ratings. Basically, I consider a 4 the limits of a stock off-road SUV with an experienced driver. We took a bone stock discovery 2 one year and it cracked the bumper. My Disco 2 with a lift and 31's did just fine. What does your boyfriend drive?

@@ForgottenWaypoints 2019 Ram 1500 w/ a 6 inch lift and 37s. He just got in this spring and it's his first time doing any kind of off roading
@ForgottenWaypoints

@@sarahmarshall5804 , His truck is definitely bigger than any vehicle we've had on the trail. It should be narrow enough for the squeeze (barely, take your time and move your windows in). The longer wheelbase may give you some issues regarding maneuverability, but keep it in 4-lo and go slow. He should be fine.

Thanks! We stayed in Moab. It would take all day if you leave early. If you camp in Canyonlands you could be done by early afternoon even if you enjoyed most of the hikes.

This was my first trail, accompanied by a buddy who’s an amazing spotter. Good idea to have a spotter if you’re not experienced af. Guess that means I gotta train the gf on spotting technique. The hard part will be keeping her my gf.

@@ForgottenWaypoints Headed to Moab at the end of March and I really want to camp in Devil's Kitchen. Would you recommend attempting this drive with a 2018 Ford F-150 Supercrew 4x4 v8 and having little offroading experience?
@ForgottenWaypoints
@ForgottenWaypoints 4 жыл бұрын
@@patrickadrian2435 , there is a video of a Raptor going through the squeeze on youtube and he did some fender damage, but the raptor is wider than the H2. You should be fine through the squeeze, but there are a couple of ledges which a truck-wheelbase + tailgate overhang can get caught on. If you take it slow, you should be ok, but you'll scrape up you trailer hitch (it's a great skidplate). That's really the only thing I can think of. To be honest, we haven't done this trail with a pickup in our group. You can hear in a few parts of the video where the rear end of the Disco comes done pretty hard. Also, if you are stock, that front bumper could be pretty low and approach angle might be an issue. To be honest, I'd look at a trail such as Tower Arch in Arches National Park to "cut your teeth on" and get a bit more experience under your belt before deciding if Elephant Hill is right for your rig.
