Eh, to be fair they don’t show every time a drug dog gives a false alert. The dogs are right about 90% of the time but the other 10% accounts for a LOT of false alerts.

I’ve watched these shows for quite a long time. However I recently went to London with my child, we followed all the signs to go to customs, and somehow we ended up outside. It made me think that if we could so easily and unintentionally get through the airport without going through customs then what about the people who are actually doing illegal activity who are trying to bypass it? This was at Heathrow!!

If it's a domestic flight, they xray your bag before you fly, to look for weapons or potential explosives. I was flying from Inverness to Luton once, and they took my tweezers and nail scissors lol.

Cigarette guy is why you have to fill in a form and sign it when entering in Australia. They say "here it says do you have any fruits, can you read that? and here is your signature, you said you had no fruits. Why did you say that?" That way they cannot say they didn't know.

There should be penalties for people who abuse Customs Officers. The passenger obviously knew he was over the limit in cigarettes & decided to take out his rage on the officers. They should have either received a fine or been arrested to deter their their abuse of the Custom officers. They probably are no picnic to live with either. Bullies.

I think the aircraft guy is just on the autistic spectrum and is clearly very anxious. Could be sus yeah but I also see somebody with communication issues and special needs having their hyperfixation (like flights and travel) brought frequently for him by the parental figures in his life with money. Some people genuinely just fly for the enjoyment of flying. I think he didn't realize how bad it could all look till it was spread in front of him.

I agree! It was frustrating to watch because I kept wondering why they didn't realize he was on the spectrum and that planes are just his special interest. The more agitated he got, the clearer it was that he was autistic/had a developmental/communication disability.

I agree. My 28 year old son who’s in the spectrum has a fascination with Children’s Musicals and he would write down dialogues or scripts on paper from memory and would read them over and over again.

There are people who have hobbies and enjoy learning all about them like those who eventually become pilots. One does not have to have criminal intent or lie, like some customs workers seem to think. Some are accused of being nervous for the same reason. Some customs workers imagine themselves to be some kind of experts. On the whole I enjoy watching these people's behaviour on both sides

The UK customs are generally nice but if in the US you may be lucky to get someone who even speaks proper English, will not roll the eyes, and will not nag your stuff around.

The thing with the "red phone" is a tragic sign of the times. And airport is basically a border crossing , it's simply INSANE that the"goods to declare" office is not staffed while the airport is open. I cannot even begin to comprehend this , i guess i'm getting to old for this mechanical place. It rains even harder now.

Fighting illegal importation in such an ineffective random way is a waste of money. Catching less then %12 warrants a reform in how airports conduct searches. This is an oldschool method of drug search in a far more modern world.

That object at 13:44 in the officer's hands, referred to as a "Hard Drive", is NOT a hard drive. It is a "Thumb Drive", used for easy carrying around of computer data. Although small, they can hold HUGE amounts of data.

that's just one part of it. there are two exits next to each other. one is huge and green (nothing to declare) the other one is exactly as huge and red (declare), but there is not somebody standing around 24/7, that's why the phone is there. there is a 0% chance you can miss a "declare" exit :) they just filmed it and showed it badly in this episode

As an American who lives in a complete bubble, our reality tv show about airports was just about in titled Americans having hissing fits. This show is serious and scary. The guy with the maps of the airport makes my skin crawl. I’m sure that happens here. The media just doesn’t show it to us.

I smoked for over 15 years. I'm 41 years old and I do not get nasty with people, unless they're nasty with me. Don't be so small minded and assume that everyone who smokes is the same. No there shouldn't really. It's not rocket science; just don't bring in more than 200 cigarettes, but if you do bring in that many then just declare them (you can even declare them verbally in the Green channel by approaching an officer before you get stopped and saying "I'm carrying 3,000 cigarettes, I want to declare and pay duty on them. How do I do that?" These guys tried their luck and acted like cry babies when they go caught.
