Welcome back for another Game of Thrones update video. In this video, I will be talking about HBO's CEO & Chairman, Casey Bloys, new interview with TVLine. During this new interview, Casey Bloys basically reveals HBO is only working on their prequel shows about House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight. Over a year ago, George R.R. Martin confirmed Game of Thrones' actor, Kit Harington, and HBO were developing a sequel series about Jon Snow. This show would take place after the events in the Game of Thrones season 8 finale. Well, now it looks like HBO is no longer focusing on a new Jon Snow series. They didn't mention the Jon Snow series by name, but the writing seems to be on the wall. Snow will go into hibernation, for the foreseeable future...

I think Kit Harrington wanted this show as a way of trying to give a proper end to the story. That means making the last season look even more bad than it was and maybe casting shade at it. Thats probably why the higher ups dont want the show. its bad PR.

HBO has been acting oddly about all of the series they have. Harrington seems to have thoroughly inhabited his character. I think he would have a very solid sense of where his character would go, and would have added to the story in a credible way. This is an unfortunate act by HBO, and let us hope it will be made.

What's more baffling to me is that companies are still willing to give him a job in the business. Seems like he'll be ruining Three Body Problem next. I actually look forward to that show, I have a morbid curiosity for seeing how badly it'll crash and burn.

And now you know why they can't make a show about Jon Snow. Any show about events after the ending of the show will be tarred by the fact that the ending sucked. Now that ending that sucked is part of the backdrop of a new show? It will never work. No one wants that. I suspect that if you really dig into who wants this Jon Snow show, it's mostly women swooning over Kit Harrington's portrayal, as they did for 8 years. That's really the only thing such a show would have going for it.

they really screwed the pooch on that one. They could have made House of the Dragon last 20 seasons if they did it right. They could have started when the Targaryens fled Valaria, thru Aegons Conquest, Maegor the Cruel, the Dance Of Dragons, Dunk and Egg could have been a part of it instead of their own series, Baelor, all the way to Robert’s Rebellion. Lord knows there’s plenty of material and the potential for that series could have made it surpass the flagship series big time. They jumped the gun made house of dragons focus the dance of dragons when it should have been SOOOO much more

Tbh I really have no problem with them cancelling this show, the reason House of the dragon was great and The Hedge Knight will probably be great is because they have the books as a blueprint to go off of. I think a show about Jon up at the watch would just be a constant reminder of how badly GOT ended.

@@jskully9784… LOL 😝 well Jon finding Drogon and returning to make Bran and Sansa dragon food would certainly have me watching… Sansa and Bran becoming king and queen was such garbage and nothing like the books, Sansa was never married to or raped by Ramsey Bolton, she was still an 11 year old brat… it was all badly written by Benioff and Weiss… so why not a Jon Snow sequel because after season 4 the series bore no resemblance to the books anyway.

I believe that HBO is nervous about a giving a green light for a GOT series without GRRM’s writing as source. Jon Snow will practically be continuing the awful ending of the original show. There is no way SNOW could be a stand alone story without being a direct continuation with Queen Sansa (shudder), King Bran (shudder again) and so many unpleasant memories of the FAILED ending of the original series. According to the 11 chapters of WOW which were available to read on line, the GOT ending will be completely different from the Sam and Dave ending. So John Snow might end up quite differently and not exiled, perhaps even a king.

No, it's much more than that. We'd get to see where Dragon went. Did he take Danny to Volantis? D&D said it but is it true? Is she brought back to life? Is she carrying a Targaryen male heir? Does Danny live beyond childbirth? Is Bran the Broken still worried about Drogon's whereabouts? Does word get to Jon about the heir? Is there forgiveness if Danny lives? If so, Does she ban word of their child? If no, whose raising the youngest Targaryen? Does he know of his powerful lineage? Is their betrayal and a word gets out that Jon has an heir? This series could have so many twists and turns.

D&D approaching him with a green lighted project was a definite downturn. Unlike Stephen King who in similar fashion with the Dark Tower Series, completed the series and brought it to the market place. GRRM has too many irons in the fire.

I disagree. As a fan of Game of Thrones I have 0 interest on a Jon Snow tv series because the ending was so bad that prolonging a show that sets that finale as canon from which they build upon is just garbage. I have no interest in other than the book ending. BUT i do want to see things from GoT lore like the Conquest, the Dance etc...

@stevem2323 I do wish for Snow series ASAP as well. Remember HBO is working on a feathur cinematic film about AEGON THE CONGUEROR. release date prolly 2025. I'm sure the focus is on that atm. Than following right after this movie, there will be 5 more series of AEGON on HBO. I mentioned SNOW will fix sometime in the time-line, just gotta be patience for it.

HBO sucks! I personally would love to see what happens after considering the way the writers blew through GOT. Jon is my favorite and for me that saying a lot because I had so many favs on that show. And idk, but I still feel some type of way about that last season. It's been forever at this point and I have yet to get over it. Talk about holding a grudge sheesh lol. Hopefully HBO will remove their heads from their arse and make it happen.

I think the reason why they don’t Greenlit so many of them is because they’re waiting for George to finish the song of ice and fire and come out with more Contant in his universe for them to adapt so they’re giving him time to breathe and let him work, Which I think is a good thing to do on their side is to wait let him make the Contant first then come out with some thing

They could explore things like the lands of always winter and ice spiders etc. It's not hard to understand why people would be excited to watch it

Either theyre banking on a full remake of Game of Thrones (Probably have House of the Dragon be a prequel to it) seeing as after that show ends we'll be approaching the 20 year anniversary and we've already seen HBO announce a Harry Potter remake already. Or they're planning a reboot/sequel to the main show with a bunch of the old actors. Pretty sure most of them miss it now and we've heard a lot of them are unsatisfied with the ending, wouldn't be surprised if most of them would come back.

Well that Kit Harrington bit made me way less interested on any potential follow-up so cancel away!! The entire build up of LS+RT=JS and being brought back to life just to say Ma Queen and get exiled to the wall is kind of BS. If you want to package it as "defying expectations", then great, but this property went from being a generational zeitgeist to a whimper in dramatic fashion as well.

I actually think Arya's ending had the greatest potential for a fun spinoff. I can see a fun one-woman show of her exploring entirely new lands and being all heroic in the style of old 90s Fantasy shows. A Jon spinoff is interesting because one could go deeper into the lore behind the Children and the Walkers, and essentially everything beyond the Wall. I really couldn't get into House of the Dragon because it still reminded me too much of the later seasons of Game of Thrones and how they were botched. I think a change of scenery is direly needed for the franchise - a pallet cleanser if you will. I look forward to Dunk & Egg because it's at least based on a book by GRRM, but I don't know if it'll fill that spot either. In the very long run, I honestly think the Game of Thrones franchise will need a reboot and a proper adaptation of the books (if that's even possible) if HBO wants for it to survive and thrive, but short term, I would like to see stories and locations that remind me of the botched last four seasons as little as possible. Hence why I also think a show in Yi Ti would be interesting, or a show about the Bloodstone Emperor.

I think it's obvious to not go forward with the new JonSnow series yet because if that shows airs and wraps up before all the prequels, they would lose a lot if fans for the other GOT shows.

"Soon" varies from person to person. I don't think this means in any way that they are cancelling or postponing the show. It simply isn't far enough in the creation process yet. Probably doesn't even have a full script yet either. Mid-late 2020s is a realistic timeline to expect it coming out. And when you think about it, Tyrion did say something like "ask me again in 10 years" well it may be roughly 10 years in real time that we get it. The reason shows like HotD & the other one seemingly got greenlit as fast is because the source material was already there + the script could be done fairly easy along with everything else.

They could surprise us and instead of John Snow after...it might be that: he wakes up/ has a vision of the future and all last season was only in his head/ dream/ vision so this way they can change the ending in a way that makes people happy and be more accurate to the book. Wishful thinking 😊

My guess is it probably has to do with budgets. You’ve got house of the dragon season two and then you’ve got Dunkin egg coming. Any more than that it’s going to get super expensive to produce, so hopefully they’re just waiting and will eventually get this but I don’t know. I would love to see a Jon Snow show!

I really don't care about the prequels, knowing what happens to House Targaryen in the end. Giving Jon a better ending was their only hope with me. Jon would have been a great King, which would have made fleshing out the histories worth watching.

They haven’t cancelled it, it’s just not green lit yet. I think the writers strike has put a ton of stuff on back burner for the time being. It probably won’t get released for another 2 years. I just hope it’s good.
