Johnny seems like he had a chance to do things differently. But that chance was swallowed by whales of his past. Extraordinary. That Daniel is a punk in season one, has an ego, all of that, extraordinary. That Johnny is a sympathetic character at all, extraordinary.

So needless to say, he's probably in better shape now than he was back then. Johnny on the other hand couldn't get past highschool, has been out of practice since he quit Kreese's tutelage turned to drugs and booze right up into his older age. And while there are no signature moves that we know of in the Cobra Kai Library compared to say the Miyagi-Do Kata, Crane, Drum, Mantis Kick and Double Kick. That doesn't mean there aren't some secrets beyond Kreese's cult like influence. We know nothing of where Cobra Kai comes from, so for all we know there are secrets Kreese and Silver had that even Johnny wasn't taught. So both basically have the element of surprise. * Miyagi specifically mentioned that in comparison to Cobra Kai, Miyagi-Do is more quality over quantity. Meaning Daniel is a minimalist, while Johnny goes all out. Johnny learns 1000 punches, Daniel learns one punch 1000 times. Johnny takes a strict extreme exercise regiment for muscles and conditioning whereas, Daniel uses the elements around him both in nature and in modern life to build muscle and muscle memory. *Then there's the topper. Cobra Kai is strictly for Competition, Street Fighting and possible military use. Miyagi-Do's core principle is Defense Only. Basically an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object. I don't think Johnny will win, I don't think Daniel will win, but after years on and off and taking their art seriously this time around, they are definitely gonna hurt each other worse than they did when they first met.

Marcelo de Andrade Daniel had a better teacher and continued training years after the 3 movies with kata, less intense but over decades it would be effective , Johnny had a bad teacher and hasn’t trained for 30 years. Also Daniel winning would push Johnny to accept that Miyagi’s teachings were better and leave Kreese and Cobra Kai and redeem himself. It would also be predictable if Cobra Kai won every time, this show is not one sided, it shows many perspectives and should give equal wins and losses.

the fight will see no victor, they both are crippled in their own way. Johnny was taught to use all in his body, or more. But he's been away from karate for some time. Daniel was taught balance, and to focus on one key strength. But he has too clouded of a mind to be balanced. It's the bully vs the bullied. Both sour about the past, and can't put into the future.

The nostalgia is strong with this series. To catch lightning in a bottle once, is nearly impossible. But two times is nothing short of miraculous. If they nail this season then we have a full on re-born franchise here. The feels are intense. A new movie will be guaranteed if this season continues the magic of the first.

Karate Kid 1-3 were everything to me as a kid. (I don't count The Next Karate Kid.) I always felt that the story wasn't over, but this is beyond my wildest dreams. The only major pieces missing in the continuation, in my opinion, are Bill Conti and Pat Morita. However, those two are being honored beautifully throughout the series which is awesome to see/hear. I can't wait for season 2! =)

Martin Kove says that is the entire motivation of the character. I really want them to get into the PTSD and how it effects the character. The last thing I want in my Cobra Kai is a black and white villain. Its been many years I like more depth to my stories now.
