The biggest problem here is the inconsistencies. Sometimes clothes/shells are included, sometimes they're ignored. Some pokemon stick with their evolutions, others are separated to the correct colours. Sometimes the face is the main factor, sometimes it isn't

Also how some of these sprites in Home are way more saturated or different colors from the regular in-game sprites or official art. Like the Abra line. They're a much lighter yellow in the games.

@@liviquail Yeah, same with the solosis line, for some reason it's body is green in home, while it's white on every other sprite art I've seen. Kinda odd that no one has pointed that out so far tbh.

Actually, Applin being green is correct. It’s actual form is all green. The apple is actually not part of it’s biology until it evolves so yes it does make sense as to why it’s categorized as green.

The Bronzor/Bronzong thing is ridiculous, but there is actually a fun explanation for it: Those two are designed after rusty bronze things (obviously) Bronzor is based on a rusty bronze mirror yo-kai, and Bronzong is based on an ancient bronze bell who's name I can't remember. Being an alloy of copper and tin, bronze "rust" is green, much like the copper used to make it.

im realizing during the blue segment that maybe your tinted glasses are not the best option to wear when judging pokemon based on color. chimeco is like 75% of its body is blue and its clearly just a pale blue. especially if those are the glasses tat help mitigate blue light (theyre the same thing and different its all about frequencies)

@@Shrina_Dracis the only white Chimecho I can find online is fan-art. Every official piece of media (official art, the actual anime, etc), it's a very light shade of blue. Do you have a blue-light filter on your device that might make you see the incorrect color?

27:33 The Haxorus there, from what I can tell, is inside of a darker place. It looks muddier because it’s in a very dark building which might be why you see green. I’ve always seen Haxorus as gold- which even if the yelloe is brighter, I would’ve still put in yellow.

Official art has it vary between a dull greenish-yellow to a dull yellow, to even a bright gold. So putting Haxorus in yellow is good.

Taillow and Swellow are navy, Eelektross and Eelektrik are teal, and Elgyem is mint, as is Bulbasaur Also there should be a beige/tan category as well as orange, and maybe a multicoloured category for the likes of Comfey, A-Muk, Carvanha, Gossifleur

29:00 Is it just me who thinks the shades of hot pink on milotic are EXACTLY the same as Porygon 2 and Z? Comparing them side to side, there's very little to no difference in shade yet he's acting like Milotic is dark hot pink and Porygon 2 and Z are lighter hot pinks.

He probably perceiving the colour as darker because of the surrounding colours. The pink on milotic looks darker because of the lighter tan and the pink on porygon 2/Z looks lighter because of the darker blue.

Wow, I forgot elgyem was categorized as blue until just now. I actually thought it was categorized as grey until now. I only just realized cranidos and rampardos were categorized as blue, not grey very recently, really they have less blue than druddigon has red, it doesn't even cover their whole face. Also, I'm pretty sure I was today years old when I learned that Alolan marowak is categorized as purple, not black. Same with zygarde's 50% form being the only green one.

Elgyem being in blue is kinda baffling to me personally because it kinda looks like a pastel mint kinda color in my eyes, and also it'd just be more fitting to be in green given its namesake is based off the term "LGM", Little *Green* Man And even if y'wanna brush that off as being a purely localization deal, in a similar vein to Mr. Mime having the masculine honorific despite being able to be female [even if the name was before genders were properly added in the following Generation], Elgyem's original Japanese name is Ligray, so going off of that, it should be grey like you originally assumed

There are sunglasses that are tinted so the sun doesn’t hurt your eyes but you can see regular color and not the tint

@@xBloodxFangx no, the whole point is that it blocks out blue colour, because that hurts your eyes the most. That's why most android phones have the option to apply an orange colour filter in the drop down menu.

Fun fact: many parts of the world don’t have a word for the colour orange. Even English only gained the term “orange” and started applying it to the colour when the orange fruit arrived from the Mediterranean; things that were orange were called red. I’m not going to claim to be an expert in Japanese, but as someone learning the language I did find it interesting that despite “mikan” being the term they use for the mandarin orange fruit, their term for the colour orange is “orenji” - it is highly likely that the concept of the colour orange is a western thing; thus, like old Englishmen before they saw the orange fruit, orange colours are designated as red. And the word orange has now lost all meaning to me 😝

It was a Naranja, originally an Arabic word. Over time it became a Noranj then finally an orange. It paralleled another quirk in the development of English. At one time you'd try not to get bitten by a nadder. Now you try to avoid the bite of an adder. Yep, an is a newish word hence its bizarre use prior to words beginning with a vowel. English is one of a tiny number of languages with such a quirk.

I'm from England and I still don't consider orange to be a real colour. I've argued with my friends on multiple occasions, but so many board game pieces or video game team colours have a "red" piece that is very much orange, because a fully saturated red would look too harsh (or possibly be too expensive to dye idk), but nobody ever questions it because our perception of colour is all relative anyway. If you have Orange, Blue, Green, and Yellow pieces/teams, people will automatically refer to the Orange colour as "Red" without realizing it. Don't even get me started on Brown, which is literally just Dark Orange.

Idea for Shield Do a playthrough using only one type Example: Choosing Grookie then only having grass types (Duel types are allowed, as well as trading if you want or if the pokemon can only be traded) and then beating the story (Not the pokedex)

Another interesting fact: In linguistics class we learned that different cultures categorize colors differently. So something we in countries with languages of Latin origin define colors differently than maybe other cultures around the world.

idk if you know this but orange and brown are the same color. “Brown” is just orange that’s very dark and so our brain treats it as it’s own color but when you darken the surroundings to be darker it becomes clear that it’s just orange. So they either had to pick orange or brown and there’s more brown pokemon

Yeah it does lighten mainly blue by a bit so that might've been a mistake, like loudred specifically, exploud has switched between blue and purple alot but the one in the game is blue

On your pokemon shield you could do an eeveelution challenge: every time you beat a gym you need to add an eevee to your team, which will be evolved later. By the end of the playthrough, your whole team will be eeveelutions. Every pokemon on your team must be a different eeveelution.

Magikarp and Kingler are the same color, but you said Magikarp is red and Kingler is orange. Also, dark orange is visibly similar to brown, and red and orange are similar too. So similar that half the shades of red and orange get mixed up with each other.

You know, I love and hate how Vileplume and Druddigon are polar opposites. Vileplume is largely red with a blue/purple face. It was placed in red. Druddigon is mostly blue with a red face… and it was placed in red.

For the sake of argument; in Japan, blue and green were considered one colour, "ao", for a very, *very* long time. Even after the word for green, "midori," was introduced, plenty of things that are green are still referred to with the word "ao." This more flexible outlook on the two colours can be used to explain bronzor and bronzong: bronze, having high copper content, oxidizes green. Bronzor and bronzong, being an ancient bronze mirror and bell respectively, are obviously oxidized. Thus, the pokemon must be green, despite the colour of the design being what we would call blue. Copperajah vs. vikavolt is the same thing: oxidized copper is green, so the copperajah is green. Vikavolt is *not* oxidized copper, so it's blue. \o/

27:10 OBJECTION! Haxorus (to me atleast I (from what I know) am not color blind) is clearly yellow! Yes it comes from pokemon that are green, but look at octilerry both at HOW GOD DARN STUPID ITS EVO LINE IS and that it is red when remoraid is green. So in conclusion Haxorus is yellow not green. He is waring glasses that filter blue light to lessen eye strain. He is staring through a yellow/orange lens this strips out some of the blue shades on the other side of the color wheel. If you rob Elgyem of the mint color it is you end up with something akin to grey. Does not explain the Sandaconda take though.... Its based off of a anaconda... there are MASSIVE green patches.

what i noticed with some of these color clasifications is that they are more inclined to search as pair to "type", like, most red being fire types, most green being grass/bug and such so i'm guessing that's how the devs tried to do it, i would not be surprised if part of the code got mixed and they could not be asked to fix it
