OFFICIAL Re-Ranking of Rolex Watches: Submariner, Daytona, Datejust & More!! So I've ranked Rolex before in the old OFFICIAL Rolex Watches Tier list. But that is now out dated, as this is the NEW UPDATED OFFICIAL Rolex Watches tier list. There are other unofficial lists floating around out there. Honestly, I just wouldn't watch them and I'd only watch this one forever.

As an Air-King owner, I can’t thank you enough for not ranking it as “Juicy”. I bought it because I am a retired Air Force officer and connected with its RAF origins. In keeping with its aviation DNA, it literally and figuratively flies under the radar. I love that it is not a hype watch and the casual observer has no idea what it is. When Rolex continued it and updated it for 2022, I knew that they “get me”.

The Rolex DateJust 36mm, fluted bezel, jubilee....it's THE Rolex. It's a design icon, above all other Rolex models. And the only Rolex that should sit in the 'Devine' category. Well, that's my hot take anyway 😅

@@songoku-jx3cb I've gone full circle on it. It feels very "noob"...but when you get further and further into watches and especially Rolex, you release just what an epic watch this is. I never used to really rate it, now I'd probably say it's my favourite watch design of all time

All-in-all I can agree with most, the one I would definitely change is putting the day-date with the presidential bracelet at the top, it’s a staple in Rolex, the bracelet being one of the most iconic ever. It’s everything the Datejust wants to be and more.

Tough to rank because there are so many iconic models. I would argue that OP, DJ, DD, Sub, Exp1, GmtM2, Daytona are all worthy of divine category.

I love the OP 41 which I own in blue however I wouldn’t rank it above the sky-dweller . The has OP has a great movement and is practical for everyday wear but the sky-dweller is way more capable and horological advance

People seem to forget that Rolex were once leaders of innovation, but now want to hate on the Skydweller for doing something new. Still, you do have a chance to re-rank it next time around! ( a future collectors piece for sure).

I think that the explorer, and OP should be in the "all right" category, but that's just me. The OP is not in the same category as a datejust or day-date.

YachtMaster II should be in ‘Eyes Bleed’!! Regular YM should drop down from where it is (I agree the Oysterflex one is quite nice) and JC (the other JC) Deepsea (that you used as icon rather than an actual plain Seadweller) should be at the top! Regular SD is fine where you put it though 😉 Explorer II is best left on a mountain somewhere 😂

That was a fun episode. I agree with you on every watch except 2: the YM, which I would rank as "this is alright" (except for the new titanium YM, which I'd rank "divine". And I think you were too kind to the Air King. I know looks are subjective, but the AK has a hot mess of a dial that hurts my eyes, so I rank it "my eyes are bleeding". Cheers!

I conducted a test where I asked my friends that are not into watches to describe me a Rolex, and you know what they said? a gold watch. They didn’t say “oh yeah a fluted bezel” because they don’t know what a bezel is. they didn’t say “oh yeah a jubilee bracelet” because they don’t know what a bracelet is, they just said gold watch. so yeah the DJ it’s not that famous. Maybe for us inside the community, but show a calatrava or a royal oak in gold to a regular person and they will say “is that a rolex?”

The 1908 looks amazing to me. And I super love the clear case back. My issue is since it looks like an oyster case, you get a similar product by putting a DJ/OP on a leather strap and essentially you get a similar what at a cheaper price and you still can switch it back to the bracelet.

I don't think most Daytona owners even know how to use a chronograph, much less know about what it is. You should do a video about chronograph, cosmograph, and tachymeter. Just saying 😅

Anyone who plays the waiting list / suck up game at a Rolex AD is a fool. I purchased my two back in the day when it was a fun thing to do and they treated you as a valued customer. Nowadays if you haven't bought $50,000 worth of watches from them they treat you like you are something stuck to the bottom of their shoe.

Love seeing the DJ first up and get some serious love! I recently got my grail, the DJ36 with blue fluted-motif dial (fluted bezel and jubilee bracelet) and it is by far the king of my collection. I personally thing the DJ is the king of the steel watches from rolex...all the hyped sport models can follow suit and get behind the DJ. I would have put the DJ as divine to its history, with all other rolex oyster perpetual date watches coming after the DJ established the OP with date capability.

DJ36 is up there with the Cartier Santos as one of the best watches ever! I went for for two-tone with gold fluted dial and bezel on the jubilee. Like you, I absolutely love it and think it stands way above the sports models.

How could you “forget” the Explorer II (especially the “Polar” dial option)??????? This is the only truly “tool” watch Rolex still offers, unless of course you’re planning on doing a Titanic tour on the cheap…in which case reading the dial won’t be important. Sorry Brit! 😉

Next year I want to see proper ranking with max three watches per tier! Ranking is relative after all so bottom rung doesn’t mean it’s bad.

You didn't have to change the rankings of the Explorer because your right its boring and I feel the Sub and GMT are in the same category I was never a fan and this is your opinion just like most people love the Sub and I find it goofy with all its weird colored bezels, I personally like the Day Date a million times better and of course the Daytona is just the best Rolex.

Speaking personally, as someone who works in design, Rolex has the vague odour of the Golf club. Every watch just makes me feel sad. So many better watches out there. Please please, use your imagination and get something better, and less dull?

How about you do a visual chart of where you think brands compare to each other, with proportional distances between them? I think Grand Seiko, Omega, and Rolex occupy a pretty similar space from a buying perspective (as brands, not models) so would be fairly close together. Almost on an island from brands around them. Breitling would be a good boat trip away, but not sure where Cartier would be?

The Explorer is a Swiss army knife???? It tells time, that's it. It's the Rolex you are given when you graduate from a private school and you either leave it in your drawer because your're not a watch guy or you wear it every day until you get a Sub/GMT Master II to impress all the other bruhs on the trading desk.

Pretty good job with the exception of the SkyDweller. How can you rate that watch as "alright"? It is a phenomenal job of innovation and engineering - multiple time zones and annual calendar. You can't blame this watch just because your wrists are skinny!

YachtMaster 2, another complicated Rolex if you know how it works. It’s under the radar and a sleeper in my view. Not highly sought after but still cant get it at an AD. When this gets discontinued…it will continue to go up.

The only Rolex I would consider wearing are models without the Cyclops. Can you grind off those warts? And of those watches I would remove the bracelet immediately an add a textile strap. My choices? Explorer 1 36m or the OP 36mm (Black dial) as a close 2nd. Great video!

Forgets the Explorer II, yet still does the SkyDweller Evren dirtier than the Explorer II. The OP, YM, and Explorer above SkyDweller?? That’s just bat-dookie crazy. 😂 As someone with an, ahem, American sized wrist, both the SkyMaster and SeaDweller deserve at least juicy and the Sky should be at divine for the ingenuity, the ring command bezel, and for actually being a wearable size for non-Europeans.

There are like 4 different watches on that list. Then just variations of them. And each one is as traditional (read old fashioned) as the last. Agree Rolex isn’t a dress watch company - but it’s definitely also not a tool watch company - that shipped sailed decades ago now. They have perfected the mid-luxury dress sports watch category, that’s essentially all they make nowadays. When a brand sells precious metal, and diamond set, variants of their ‘tool’ watch then I think we know what that brand is saying about said watch. The day date is the epitome of what Rolex do - and I could live with that as my dressy sporty luxury wearer.
