I have loved "One More Day" since the first time I heard it on the radio. It transcends time. Losing a loved one is a universal human experience. That's why this song is so relatable. Listening to your golden voice together with your dad's angelic harmonies is stunningly beautiful, and conveys the emotion that we all feel. Thank you for sharing this special moment with your dad with us. ❤ Love you, Iam! By the way, please record this someday. :-)

Hi Iam, my mother died a wrongful death at a hospital in may 2021. Can I hire you to play this song and or the monsters song for my mother's memorial funeral or a facetime video dedicated to my mother? You have a great singing voice that is natural and meaningful. The monsters song made me cry.. I really connect with parts of the song, as I tried to help save my mother from evil monsters(certain doctors and nurses, aides , they know who they are). They did negligence, elder abuse, and homicide. She was an innocent woman and donated to the Catholic church, missionaries, community, veterans, disabled, etc. She was killed at a hospital. She didn't deserve this and I saw her a few times before she died and" it was my turn to chase the monsters away" and keep the light on in the darkness, and continue to be a light for her and myself and family. I tried every day for 2 years 24/7 to do what I could to keep her alive and get her back to her house during COVID pandemic. I regret not doing certain things that may have helped. I hope the lawsuit against "the monsters" will have justice for her and honor her. Let me know how much to fly you to LI NY and hotel cost and to appear at a memorial art event for my mother. She was a great artist sculptor teacher dancer cook mother and grandmother. I'm sure your Dad is proud. He had a nice singing voice. Thanks for sharing these videos of you and your father. I am a musician also, I used to play piano, keyboard and singing, a little guitar, harmonica, spoons, Irish whistle.

Congrats braddah man! 🎉🤙🏽I’m not sure if you’ll ever see this message, but Im sending this anyways hoping it’ll eventually reach you. I just came across this video today and I am overwhelmed with emotions not only because I’m watching a beautiful moment between you and your late father, but also because this song is very sentimental for me - it was the song that was played at my grandpa’s funeral back in February. Ironically, February was also when I first heard about you - when your audition video went viral. Your story and the rawness in your singing inspired my brother to sing “monsters” at my grandpa’s funeral that same week. I want to thank you for being vulnerable not only during your American idol journey, but even before your father’s passing by sharing a song like One More Day on KZfaq. Keep representing Hawaii boldly and humbly, braddah! From one Hawaii transplant in federal way to another, God bless!

I often wonder what life would be like if I got more time with him... I heard your story bro... my heart breaks for you. Your time with him was cut too short. But cherish the memories. Let it fuel the rest of your time here. You're his legacy. Take care. I wish you and your family well.

Sear sweet Iam, I am inn awe of your natural talent. Watching your videos with your dad singing with you brings a flood of emotions. It makes one realize how much we all take for granted the time spent with our own parents and wishing videos were made to be able to watch just to hear their voices again. There's no doubt in my mind that you can hear your dad's voice harmonizing along with you. That is a gift your dad has left you with to help you through your sadness. I know if it were me, the second upon finding out I had won Idol, I would have ran outside and screamed out to my parents, "Mom, Dad, look, I did it, I did it!!" I tried to figure out what exactly it is about your voice that drew me into even wanting to follow American Idol, especially since I have never even watched a single episode of any season. I discovered it was a few things. One, seeing your videos of you and your dad sharing something so special as to singing with one another, the compassion and memory you have for singing makes you feel like your dad is still right there with you. Your talent to play and sing songs that to the viewer seem to easily come natural to you. That is a God given talent. But it's the sound of your voice that feels like a warm hug. I cannot wait to see all the amazing things you have yet to share with this world. Thank you for sharing a lil bit of your time with your dad with us all. Please give your Mom a huge Hug, for through all the excitement and crazy schedules, she too is still grieving her best friend and hubby. Na ke Akua e kiaʻi mau iā ʻoe a me kou ʻohana, mālama iā ʻoe i ka palekana, olakino, hauʻoli, a aloha ʻia. Stay humble, and true to yourself and your upbringing. Oh, and always tell your beautiful Mom, I love you!! Moms love that!!

My friend, I usually don't like covers, especially of songs that I have adored for years. People usually don't put in the right punch and power that makes them hit like the original version does. However, this was spectacular! I think you did the song justice and then some! Your harmonies are great, and your playing is good, and it seemed you were singing from the soul, which is the most important of all. What I find interesting is the date you uploaded this video: December 10, 2021. Might not mean anything to anyone else, but you uploaded this the day after my 80 year old dad passed away. The last concert he attended was Diamond Rio too! The song used to mean a lot to me, as I lost someone I loved when I was 16, but now it has a different meaning with my dad gone. There is almost nothing I would give to share one more day with my dad, to let him know I love him, to hear him say the rarest and most important of words "I'm proud of you", and to sit quietly next to him watching the grass grow for an hour or two. The Lord blessed me with 46 years with him, and yet I still finding it hard to let him go. I'm left looking after my 79 year old mother who has Alzheimer's, my brother who has mental disabilities, and then there is my sister who has two sons that are special needs kids. I look back over this past year and wonder if dad would be proud, and that is what I'd like to hear if I had one more day with him. Thank you for the cover.

Thank you for your story. We did this cover for my aunty who lost her baby that was only a few months old. It was just recorded on the iPhone but I am so happy I have this recording. Didn’t know this would be my last recorded cover with my dad as he passed the end of that month. It was so hard to get back to music after he passed because it was our thing but I’m pushing through and hoping he would be proud of my journey now. I wish to hear him say “I’m proud of you son” one more time. I really miss my dad too

@@officialiamtongi Y'know, the beauty of country music is that it can be so gut wrenchingly sad, but full of life lessons. For instance, Garth Brooks' "The Dance" and "If Tomorrow Never Comes" are two songs that mean a lot to me, but also relate to you too, I think. "The Dance" asks the question of "If I could do it all over again, would I change anything, could I miss the pain of losing someone, and would it be worth it?" Would you do this video over again with your dad, knowing he would pass away? Or would you enjoy the moment with him and not miss this "Dance". I think about that a lot with my dad. When it comes to "If Tomorrow Never Comes", I already get ahead of the song, because we were always told "Make sure you cherish the time you have with people, even if it is mundane, and make sure they know you love them, because you might not get the chance again and wish you did." My dad didn't talk a lot. He was a reserve man, and didn't like to say "I love you" or "I'm proud of you" a lot, because saying things over and over make the words lose meaning. So in the rare instances he did say them, it meant a whole lot more, and we knew he was serious. I know my dad loved me and was proud of me. If I didn't hear the words, I'd see the actions that said it for him. Maybe your dad was similar? I'm pretty sure your dad loves you and is proud of you. He took time out of his day to sing harmony with you for this video. He saw your work and dedication to playing the guitar, and knowing it was important to you made it important to him. Good Dads are like that. Lucky for you, you got his image, and his voice on video. I barely found answering machine messages by my dad, one or two videos of him playing with my nephew, and riding his lawn mower with them. That is all I have outside of pictures. Cherish what you got, keep those memories alive, and one day God will grant you more than "One More Day" with your dad, as he will for me and mine. God bless, man!👊

I hope I run into him on the streets of wherever in federal way, auburn, Seattle, I don’t care. I just wanna be able to tell him to his face that his audition song took me right back to sitting next to my dad while he was losing his fight to cancer and say you’re not alone, and I wish I had him and that song during that time. But he just transports me right back to my moms house 9 years ago like it was yesterday
