You certainly have a lot of Sir Rod Stewart, he's now 77 and just about to go out on tour again, he was friends with Freddie Mercury and the rest of Queen however Freddie had nicknames for his friends, I can't remember offhand what his name was for Rod but also one for Sir Elton John as well, and much like many of our singers and groups from the UK way back before you were born many are still going, I think Rod has sold over 200million albums over his long career. Phyllis was Rod drag name sharon for Sir Elton which are still used between the two now,and Freddie gave him Melina and his other friends in the group and outside also had drag names

A hugely popular song! He's being very cheeky throughout this video. Definitely late 70s, more permissive time. I hear this at weddings now, and everyone gets up to dance, even the elderly people. Many people owe their existence in the world to this song 🙂

Rod Stewart is the man! He caught a lot of heat when he recorded this song. Folks accused him of "selling out" for doing a "disco" song! But this song was very popular and was played all the time!

Rod Stewart is from Scottland, and he is one of the top Rockers in the world since the early 70s. When "Disco" emerged, everyone in the music business had at least one Disco record they put out. It was a trend that was short lived, and after about 5 years, everyone went back to who they really were as an artist or Band.

Rods voice and his hair always was a big attraction for me. I've been a fan since I was around 11 years old. I've got to see him over the years 6 times and it was always a great show, he never disappointed. He has so many hits to choose from. "Hot Legs" is an oldie but definitely a goody. Then "Tonights the Night", "Infatuation". You really can't go wrong whatever you choose out of his list of hits.

Rod and guitarist Ron Wood(Rolling Stones) were also in the Faces after singer/guitarist Steve Marriot left the Small Faces and formed Humble Pie. The rest of them hooked up with Rod and Ron, dropping the 'Small'. Ron(on bass) and Rod had been in the first Jeff Beck Group after the guitar wizard left the Yardbirds to Jimmy Page. Check out Jeff's 'People Get Ready' featuring Rod on vocals, or Rod's 'Infatuation' featuring Jeff on guitar. Or 'I'm Losing You', 'Stay With Me', 'Gasoline Alley', or 'Angel'.

Rod Stewart has this distinct bluesy voice that made him such a legendary singer... he got his start in the UK in the 60's in the Jeff Beck Group... then, he and guitarist Ronnie Wood formed The Faces. After Rod Stewart's solo career took off in 1971 w/ the album 'Every picture tells a story', the Faces split up by 1975... This single was a disco track in the late 70's. Rod Stewart has consistently released records til today.

At the time this was released Disco was trending but hated by many. Rod was criticised for selling out just like Kiss was for 'I was Made for Loving You'. Most people who were their prior fans rejected the new direction. Eventually Rod Stewart wouldn't perform the song in concert and has said things like he wished he had never recorded it. The song did introduce him to a much wider audience & made him a lot of money. I saw him perform in concert in the 80's and he performed the song.

*1994!!!???* (oooooph!!) (lol) Yeah, def disco pop era. Always loved the synth strings and bass in the song, it's addictive. Rod is his own genre. If you continue to explore him, you'll find a wide range of styles. I will always remember one thing he said about performing live: That "it feels like making love to an audience..." and that there's a let-down afterwards (like a coming down from a high that he then has to recover from). Cheers!
