I'm 72 and I agree with you 100%. All good music is ageless. It's a soul thing. : ) I realized when I fell in love with the Beatles at 11, I'm still in love with them. Beatles fans never grow out of it, they just get older.

This song reminds me of my wife. It was her favorite song before she lost the battling to cancer, I wish I could change the hands of time, she was always there for me and our lovely daughter, and I never missed a moment with her, life could be so unfair most times, there is some pain I will cry in vain but won’t let you know how I will feel yes but some times I wonder why bad thing always happen to good people..

I am from Ukraine, and MK is my favourite guitarist and singer for almost 40 years. First time I heard his song was in 1988. And it was So beautiful for me, I was very impressed, I had only 8 years. :) It was "you and your friends" and now in this difficult time for Ukraine the songs of Mark help to believe in better future. I am listening to this CD for the 6th time in the last two days; I'm 75 and have been listening to and a fan of Mark's music for 50 of those 75 years; I cannot begin to express the excitement, joy, and appreciation your music and songs have brought to me and millions of others all around the world.I played bass in a band during high school and college, and while I am not even in the same galaxy as you where musicianship is concerned, I learned enough about playing guitar to recognize the brilliance and incredible guitar work and songwriting that have been your trademark since Dire Straits. You don't listen to a song collection like One Deep River so much as you feel it in your heart and soul, Like a fine wine, you have mellowed with age, and I pray that you will be around long enough to grace us with many more beautiful songs and masterful guitar work. God bless you and your fellow musicians for the incredible support for the teen cancer support organizations. with your Going Home tribute release. Nobody but nobody can make a guitar sing so soulfully as you can!

@jean-michelducarteron. I'm from the US but cannot get all the words. However, the music is such that it doesn't matter. I still get caught up in it all. The background rhythms and counter melodies, the emotions of the instruments. Lifts me up and carries me away.

Dear Mark, I’m your cousin and have just heard your album. Congratulations. Last saw you at Staley Hall and the Maid Marion cafe in Hexham, Northumberland. I am 53, now I live in Spain. I used to listen Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler when I was a teenager and lived in other countries. I have to confess their music is still as good as it has been, being good like an old, mature wine, and even better.

I am always happy to hear more from Mark; there is nothing like a first listen. I remember that first-moment hearing "Telegraph Road," which is still my favorite song by Mark. Extended play is fantastic; he has time to tell a whole story.

Hi Mark, humble french guitarist for many years (52 ...) , I am 67 now, and I d always have in my head your first Dire Straits LP. I was 20 ! and all your songs were revelations for me, Water of love (your one deep river perhaps !) , Down to the waterline, Six blade knife, Wild west end, and your Sultans of swing ! at home,on my sailboat,up in the mountans skiing,driving my car,on the radio,at a bar Knopflers' music is my favorite company,my friend,a special treat ! everytime you listen to his songs you have something new to notice either with the orchestration or with the lyrics....i've seen him live in rome,sofia x2,athens and lucca in 2019 which was by far the best concert i ever watched....thank you forever! love from Greece

It wasn't enough for this man to create the best rock group in history...he still had plenty of talent to release so many solo albums and those sublime soundtracks throughout all these years. Even today....it goes on and on....to infinity and beyond!!....with those melodies that reach your soul and take over your heart. History will remember him as one of the best musicians of all time.

Who produced the Joshua Tree by U2??? Forgot Daniel Lanois. Wrecking Ball by Emmy Lou Harris and that Willie Nelson album with both versions of The Maker. Also late Robbie Robertson with his first solo album. All those guests vocals. Yeah hit that musical nerve here. Need my own podcast
