That is a good question , I mean one expects security guards, waitresses and department store workers to hate there jobs but not a teacher/school principal. But I suspect because Trunchbull is a Bully and toughly unpleasant person and thus pics on kids because they are easy targets and because she is a school principal she gets away with it. Rold dhal was very good in showing children that not all adults like children in fact thereare many adults that absolutely hate kids. dhals books express the way kids think and feeland how they view aduts good and bad . Books like Matilda show kids who strggle with adversity and beat the odds in other words they show kids life they do not candy coat things.

I really hate that Principle Miss Trunchbull. She’s reminds of my aunt. She’s a bully and treating me like dirt. By the time I got older, I am not afraid of her and I was planning to get revenge. But she’s gone. She’s on the different side of the place and far away from her. I made a promise to myself: Never be like her and I am will to become a good man and set a good example. I got a home, I work at the preschool, and find a girl to be treated of kindness and love her. That would be next chapter.

My brother had one of his teachers like this... She looked very differently, she was slim, had a short haircut and was wearing men's clothes but methods were similar (except for chockey obviously). But unlike the move some parents believed what was happening, but principal were always trying to smooth things out because if that teacher got fired then there wouldn't be any replacement. I believe she still works there tormenting kids, though she has a little group of the kids from each class who she likes and doesn't touch them

I remember episodes where she was actually nice and stood up for the kids. Shoot, she didn't even punish Gretchen for pulling the fire alarm once she realized that that library kid was stuck up on the flag pole and instead was concerned and called the fire department. That's what I meant. Yes, she could be dastardly, but she wasn't heartless.

The Witches 1990 version and Matilda are the best movie adaptations of Roald Dahl's work. (Fun Fact : Roald Dahl himself dislike the ending of The Witches 1990 version and Mr Stringer's outfit is the same as the ones in Mr Bean. )

I know this was made before Harry Potter but Matilda would most definitely be at Hogwarts. She is a gifted born Witch and her causing the family TV to explode, tipping a glass and making the chalk write by itself is simply her not being able to control her magic which is very common in all underage witches and wizards. And she would most likely be a Slytherin believe it or not. Obviously Matilda isn't a bad person but while she does have traits of Ravenclaw like being intelligent and wise like Hermione Granger who was in Gryffindor, Matilda while also witty (yet another Ravenclaw trait) is also cunning to help Miss Honey get her house back and makes it her ambition to help Miss Honey and rid of the Trunchbull and she also gets back at her parents if they upset or bully her. In fact she be the most gifted person in Slytherin since Tom Riddle.
