Overtime a raised gritt guard can cause the bucket to crack especially if you use the gritt guard to scrub your wash media, people use slight down pressure when scrubbing and the pressure is transferred to the bucket. Just something to keep in mind as I know you don't scrub the gritt guard like most people so maybe you're unaware of this issue. Also the fins at the bottom of the gritt guard aren't serving their purpose, water is allowed to swirl around bringing dirt back up when the gritt guard is raised.

Is this bucket didn't survive a nuclear explosion, I'd be surprised. Plus the bucket is like $10, so you can just get a new one in 5 years if that eventually happened.

The theory behind the grit guard is that the bottom fins sit flat on the bottom of the bucket to create a calm spot for the dirt to collect. If the fins aren't touching the bottom of the bucket, every time you dunk a mitt in the dirt will swirl up in the water column and get suspended in the suds and right back on your wash media. No bueno.

abernathy0011 It's true though. This is literally what grit guard themselves say in their description, which btw makes perfect sense. Why would you even have the fins otherwise? "Once dirt settles in the bottom of the bucket, the Grit Guard keeps it there by separating the wash water into four quadrants, so the water cannot be disturbed."

Personally I've always had my wash bucket blue and my rinse bucket red. A red wash bucket to me doesn't make sense as red indicates something bad, so I'd rather make my wash bucket blue. I think a lot of detailers are the same. I know this isn't really of much concern with regards to buckets but with paint protection film it's probably a bad idea to use baby soap as this leaves a layer of glycerin on the surface.

I like to have a chemical guys cyclo grit guard on the bottom and a normal grit guard with the scrub board ontop! If you only have a normal grit guard on the bottom the drit will not be trapped and it is only to take off the heavier dirt off the mitt.

It looks like you're using the lip of the bucket as the vertical reference point. For the circumferential placement, I would create a reference point x distance from a landmark on the circumference then use painters tape or a magnet strip (cut to whatever width needed) on the outside + a holding mag strip on the inside to create a template for placing the sticker. Then use the edge of the tape or magnet strip as the start point to place the sticker. That should help with fatigue, improve cycle time, and eliminate variation.

Black buckets get jacked up pretty quickly and are a real problem when it comes to sourcing and shipping. They damage much easier.

The trouble with black buckets is that they hide the dirt, so you may not notice that there's dirt in the bucket and you end up putting it on the car.

Only issue ive ever had with the grit guard floating like that is after a while it gets itself in there too tight and it cracks the bucket. May not happen with these but just something to look out for.

People wining about price... I bought mine for 2$ a piece at a hardware store, with a lid. They are transparent, graduaded, with a plastic handle, but they are primerely made for construction purpose, to mix cement. They are FINE. If you don't want to spend money on bucket, you can. You have a choice. Don't criticize other people for wanting something diferent, more premium, really good looking, and support a youtube guy. Yes the price is high, but most people that are gonna buy this package, they don't do it for the money. They are passionate about detailing and don't mind spending more money for something cool like these. Matt, i respect what you do. You put a lot of time, effort and money into your passion, you are dedicated and crazy.

I had Shane make 50 sets logoless. Buckets are 6 Gallon Letica from Uline. The Grit Guard sits snugly about 2 inches from the bottom. The bucket tapers. It's a very nice fit.

So I like the idea of your buckets and labels but is there any way you could sale these through Amazon So you can sale them for the same price but we can get a better deal on shipping? I don't know if YOU get a better deal through your store but if that's the case then it is what it is. I don't want to screw a guy who puts in a lot a work to develop and sale a product just for slightly cheaper shipping.

Obsessed Garage Sir, with all due respect you add shipping charge to the price or deal direct with ups or fedex on an IDIQ based on projected sales/shipping you would pay 1 yearly fee for CONUS shipments. How do you think tire distribution corps can ship tires free or similar large supply items, they deal direct with shipper via contract. Respectfully, obviously you can just choose not to do any of those things as well.

Red = Wash. Blue = Rinse. For me that's backward. It's counter-intuitive. You say "Crystal clear BLUE water." By that, the water is clean - like the water in the WASH bucket. As a car guy what do you associate RED with...STOP! As in "STOP, bonehead that water is your dirty RINSE water!"

SO...The buckets are $12 at cost price, so lets say you charge $16 a bucket, thats $48 for the set. Then the stickers are $20, so thats $68, plus lets say you charge $15 per package to cover the bulky shipping cost on your end, so say approx $85 total for the 3 buckets? Am I far off?

You are missing the most expensive part. My cost for buying 500 of each is about $215. So add 35% margins and you're at $300+. 3 sets of Gamma Seals, 15 3" Castors, 3 dollys, 3 Grit Gurads

Nice combo man! Amazing reading all the comments. This is just like anything else. Why do people but a nest thermostat when they can buy a 10.00 unit? Well, we all choose what we spend our dollars on. For some, it is a nice setup to wash ones vehicles. 300.00 after all the time spent on the selection of components.....cheap. People invest their hard earned money on what they want or what they are into. If you dont want it, dont buy it...lol. Just my two cents. But yea he is obsessed and its pretty awesome!

That's my exact philosophy. I knew I'd a large percentage would scoff at the idea of something so costly for such a simple task. But there are enough people that want something exactly like this and would have to spend 2 or 3 times more through lots of trial and error like I have and may never come up with this.

Obsessed Garage I agree with that 100% just because it's a smaller business doesn't entitle people to a new version. Most wouldn't think about it like that.
