Stephen welcomes Lady Gaga back to the show for the multi-part interview and asks about her stunning, emotional performance of the national anthem at President Biden's inauguration when she made a point of finding the American flag when she sang the lyrics, "and our flag was still there." @@jsmrt6875 I totally get what you're saying, but I'm going to respectfully disagree with you. I have trouble imagining that President Biden felt like she was taking the spotlight from him. His focus - the spotlight, if you will - on January 20 was on healing the nation. Singing the national anthem at a Presidential Inauguration calls for a special outfit, and at least she didn't wear her famous "meat dress."

I'm from Italy and she was on our version of a late night show a couple weeks back. I noticed it too, she even waited for the translator to finish talking before she began again (which is unnecessary) and hardly attempted any humour (which everyone knows travels poorly). It all really shows how much she cares about the way her words are perceived. It feels less authentic/spontaneous than I prefer, but I appreciate the way she weighs her words and makes sure she is understood.
