Great song (one of my favorites), and powerful video that left me a bit stunned when I first saw it years ago. Dolores O'Riordan the lead singer of the Cranberries was known for her great vocals. She passed away in 2018. I think the song is mainly a critique of the war in Northern Ireland between the Catholics fighting to be independent from Great Britain, and Protestants living there who wanted to remain part of it. Catholics in Northern Ireland were historically treated poorly. English soldiers sided with the Protestants and this lead to bombings in London. It was a sad and tense period in history. I was traveling in England in 1973, and could feel the tension in some parts. Great choice of song and I enjoyed your reaction.

The black and white footage was taken in the active warzone, so finds might not be toys... They told authorities they were a documentary film crew to get in. The only direction given to the children was to play as they normally do.

The gun was likely very real, as there’s nothing to suggest it wasn’t. None of the black and white footage was any sort of a production, other than for editing purposes. Those are very real, very unique children in the Western World, who grew up in an armed conflict. It just didn’t happen in the West, but show us it absolutely can.

The line in the song " a child is slowly taken" is so poignant the two children Johnathan Ball, aged 3 died at the scene of the bombing as a result of his shrapnel-inflicted injuries, and five days later, Tim Parry, aged 12 lost his life as a result of head injuries.

Written in memory of teenager Tim Parry and toddler Johnathan ball who died after a bomb planted in a waste paper bin exploded in the town of Warrington England 😢 Her voice is known as keening in Ireland which is synonymous with grieving

@@shockwavereact Actually, I kind of liked the jump-cuts. But it made me wonder how many cameras you had sitting so close to each other running simultaneously to get the coverage. Three maybe? Anyway, I thought it was clever and made the video, well, unique. Nobody else does it, and it keeps your attention. Keep it.

This song helped lead to a prolonged period of peace in Northern Ireland which is still currently (mostly) holding. The song and the people in the peace movements weren't the only reason but it really helped create the Good Friday Agreement. A War that had been going on for hundreds of years but came to a head in 1916. It is a complicated history so you really need to read up about it. Yes, thank you for pointing out that the bombing, and the song, helped to create the Good Friday Agreement. I think you are right and not many people make that connection. (I grew up in Belfast during the Troubles and, ironically, moved to Warrington a year after the bombing). I find it an incredibly powerful song
