That is so true my friend and music was a big part of it. Respect was still given to people who had it coming. You know, even my dad had good music back then. Wasn't Rock and Roll but I'd choose it over today's music. A lot of it anyway.

Over 25+ years ago (ca. 1998), I was doing my weekly grocery shopping in a Walmart at about 2:30am. At that time, I was working the night shift at a medical center. This song was playing on the overhead PA system. I'd heard this song on the radio since its original release but never knew who played it. I stopped and listened intently so I could memorize some of the lyrics and do a Google search when I got home. Come to find out that I liked a lot of Ambrosia's songs but never knew that one band had performed them all. This was long before smart phones and the Shazam app which would have made my research so much easier. I think this song is still my favorite of theirs.

Holding On To Yesterday was Ambrosia’s first hit going to #17 in 1975. It’s considered a cross between soft rock, progressive rock and space rock. Their next top 40 hit came in 1976 with a cover of The Beatles’ Magical Mystery Tour from the little known film All This And World War II. Check out Ambrosia’s take, then listen to the Four Seasons’ excellent cover of We Can Work It Out from the same movie.

Ambrosia is best known for their pop songs (which are excellent). But their roots are in progressive music. Deep dive into this particular album (their first), and you won't be disappointed. "Drink of Water" is a masterpiece. It showcases their musicianship as well as their vocals. (Bass player Joe Puerta takes the lead on this one with a part in the middle done by David Pack). And of course there are plenty of great harmonies to satisfy the ears.

A Great song, probably my favorite pop chart hit of the Seventies. The band does so many things well here and they cram so much detail into to a 4 minute song. Haunting is the way the chorus sections strike me. By the way the lovely violin solo is by Daniel Kobialka who I seem to remember was the lead violinist for the LA Philharmonic Orchestra. A much underappreciated song. Great Choice, Thanx.

This is from the band's debut album which is an unheralded progressive rock/pop classic. The opening track, Nice, Nice, Very Nice is a gem, and the album closer, Drink Of Water, is a grand mini epic. In between those two tracks are six other songs of equal quality with each having its own identity. The most "out there" song, Mama Frog, has to be heard to be believed. Incredible album.

He lost his beautiful wife Stacey on Feb 9, 2023 and is raising their ten son Jackson who is musically talented as well. His wife Stacey also sang back up on his solo music and that is how they met and married. My favourite is How Much I Feel.

Iconic track, and my second favorite of their's, right next to this one. I'm glad that person requested this one. Seems to miss a lot of reactors' attention, and it's a real shame, for the exact reasons you mentioned. Amazing instrumentals and beautiful vocal work. Bass, guitar, and violin all shine. Their whole first album was a masterpiece. You should try Drink of Water off of the same album.

I second this. Drink of Water is my favorite song by Ambrosia along with this song. The lyrics have always stood with me and the pipe organ blows my mind. Mama Frog is also a great psychedelic song from them as well.

That’s why I’ve been recommending this song since you guys first reacted to Ambrosia!! When you hear this - from their first album nonetheless - you know how great a band can be. One of the best songs of the 70’s! This song is heartbreak in 3 and a half minutes! So much from their 1st 3 albums is absolute fire. People forget they were really a prog pop/rock group when they started. Trivia 4 U: Joe Puerta, the bass player, 2nd lead vocalist… was a member of Bruce Hornsby’s The Range, and played on their great hits The Way It Is & Mandolin Rain!

This is definitely my favorite song by Ambrosia. For some reason the tune just has an ebb and flow that puts me in a slight trance. And the way the last line is sung is almost haunting. Love the reaction guys.

One of my all time, favorite groups... and one of the best voices on lead vocals, David Pack. ❤

If I remember correctly, the liner notes in the LP said that after they tried to sing this song, Alan Parsons made them leave and run cross country for a few months and then come back and try recording it. I have long thought this was one of the most beautiful they ever recorded.

Great smooth song that reminds me of high school. 5 yrs later they released what I've always considered their best song, Biggest Part of Me. It's a turn from their original prog rock sound, but not by much. It infuses a jazz/soul sound that uses David Pack's voice really well. And the harmonies are fabulous! "(Sunrise) There's a new sun arisin' (In your eyes) I can see a new horizon (Realize) That will keep me realizin' You're the biggest part of me..." It's always on my playlists. Be blessed❤

This song and Album was produced and guided by Alan Parsons. Not only did he Engineer the Beatles Abbey Road Album but Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon as well. He Produced Al Stewarts "Year of the Cat", on top of all of his Band "Alan Parsons Project" albums.

Thanx so very much for reacting to this great, great track from Ambrosia and their first album. The bass, the organ, the harmonies, the plaintive vocals etc., etc., etc. There is just so much to love about this track. The whole album is amazing; all killer and no filler!!! Love your reactions as you listen to this classic.
