Zenitsu protecting Nezuko is the PERFECT example of what I like to call "The Samwise Gamgee Effect". Basically, a person is far more capable of being strong for someone else's sake than they are at being strong for their own sake.

People like to hate on Demon Slayer because it's not profound or complex enough, but for me, it achieves exactly what it aims to. Gorgeous fight scenes with simple yet effective storylines that still evoke emotions within the viewer.

People really just ignore how good of a person Zenitsu actually is. As terrified and anxious and timid as he is when push comes to shove he always tries his best to protect others who are weaker than him. Even when he's awake. It gets outshined by Tanjiro but zenitsu is also a considerate and loyal friend. You can see when we first see him after tanjiro offered him food he immediately gave him back half when he noticed Tanjiro had none left. Zenitsu is such a good character

*answers and info for this episode:* no, i don’t think that’s his dad. i believe it’s just a literary editor, who judges people’s writings and decides if the work is suitable for publication. yes he was already a demon when that guy denied kyogais writing. this is why the guy said “you barely come outside in the day” and calls him boring. inosuke is the 5th survivor. if you remember to when they were picking their ore for their sword, we switch scenes to a guy saying “great we now have 5 more kids” and you questioned if it was just a counting error. i also love tanjiro’s care for demons. he was born as a caring person, but; nezuko becoming a demon made him realise that maybe other demons has good within them, made him realise that all demons used to be human, his quest to cure demons made him care for them a bit more, and urokodakis teaching of “lives are important”. heads up for every single episode in this season and all the next season, they’re all gonna have these cliffhangers

Yeah... DS has a habit of starting its story beats in the middle of an episode, ending the episode on a hanger, and then concluding said beat at the start of the next episode only for it to start all over again. It definitely gets you wanting to watch the next one asap...

The fight was so intense of a battle! The show really does make you feel for the "villains" especially the demons. You really see how much personality and what they went thru from their past. I love how much respect Tanjiro is by avoiding stepping on his music sheets. Tanjiro is such an amazing MC what a great character he is. You cannot help, but love him! And you are definitely in for a long ride as the show gets progressively dark as it has always been from the start, Luke! But totally love your reactions to this series so much and always excited to see a new upload of Demon Slayer from you!

6:00 I think it's just a random person but Demon slayer love giving backstories for everyone making you feel bad for them. 18:13 You can't really blame Inosuke though to him it's just a random demon in the box. And these are your 4 main characters that you'll see for the rest of the series. 22:28 Zenitsu is a coward yes but he will put himself in harms way to protect his friends which you will see more of later. 24:54 You're not going to survive the later arcs the cliffhangers only get worse from here at least you don't have to wait a week. And there's actually not a cliffhanger next episode.

THIS INCLUDES SPOILERS FOR SEASON TWO I will always get annoyed at people calling Zenitsu a coward because, yes he is scared, but he reacts like how most of us would in that world. Add that to the fact that he can HEAR all the demons crawling around and *can’t* hear how loud he is, it’s only natural for him to react that way. He would die for people that he cares about, even going as far to snap at an uppermoon when she hurt a little girl, ignoring his own fear.

Another thing about Tanjiro is that he doesn't show kindness to every demon he meets, remember the demon that was kidnaping 16yr old girls? He was no where close to being kind with that demon and how he keeps getting angry everytime he tinks of Muzan? He is able to tell a demons true nature, most demons like the hand demon (the one from final selection) was just a kid who got turned into a demon and enedup biting his own brother (that he loved very much) to death. This will continue in the future arc, emphaty is only to demons that deserve it, they still receive death but their own strugles are recognized (I am having a bit of trouble with wording for this last segment)

26:09 fun fact about the taisho secret at the end; tanjiro said that the demon kyogai is a fan of the work the legend of the 8 samurais where a princess needs to find 8 legendary samurai to help fight back a supernatural force and break the curse place on her family but i looked this worked up and its not possible because the legend of the 8 samurai is a novel and film produced in the early 1980s while demon slayer takes place several decades earlier its probably instead referring to the 1814 to 1842 novel the saga of 8 dogs instead which the legend of the 8 samurai is loosely based on in the saga of 8 dogs lord satomi’s daughter princess fuse is cursed to be impregnated by their pet dog and her descendent to be as deprived as mindless beast but instead her husband-to-be daisuke kills both of them (i dnt agree with his action but it’s understandable that he would avoid humiliation being cuckolded by a dog) yet the curse cannot be stopped causing her virgin pregnancy to manifest as 8 unborn spirits children that enters her prayer bead necklaces that is then scattered to the wind to be born in different families and now years later a regretful daisuke now a wandering monk under a different name journeys the land seeking fuse’s lost children each with 1 of the prayer beads marked by a confucian virtue, the dog character within their family name (as in the word “inu” meaning dog is part of their name) and peony shaped birthmark on them to assemble them as guardians of the satomi clan the story is apparently famous enough to inspire and influences modern day anime and manga too such as dragon ball and inuyasha

Tanjiro humanizing and making us feel for the demons reminds me of Edward humanizing the Slicer Brothers in FMA. B/c if he still believes that his sister is a person then, they must be too. They were were humans at some point, just like Nezuko. And if he stops thinking of them like that, then he would also stop thinking of his sister like that. After all, they're not so different. Just like Ed stilling the Slicer Brothers as human despite their forms, b/c his brother is the same way. It also reminds me of how Allen Walker humanizes the Akuma in D.Grey-Man (which are more comparable to the demons here).

While I don't know the details between you and your family member who you had a falling out with... I can say that I am the type of person who is best motivated by people being critical and telling me I can't do something. So those who know me best know the best way to manipulate me into doing something is to put me in a position to make them eat their words. I also tend to take this approach depending on the person's personality type to encourage them either through positive praise/support or by teasing them and letting their anger fuel them to do better. It is situational depending on what motivates people more. So I can't speak for your family member and how they went about it which led to a falling out, especially if you were only 16 at the time when insecurities are higher. But going from your personality on stream and in reactions I take you as someone who likes to prove the haters wrong.

I noticed in the last episode the boar head dude (not gonna say his name since they haven’t yet) prefaced his breathing technique with “Self Taught” Beast Style. I didn’t catch that the first time i watched this series but caught it on the last reaction video. I thought he was the least impressive of the bunch but now i come to realize the dude is a genius if he invented a breathing style all by himself. That’s pretty awesome! Also, man that dude stepping on the demon’s work when he was a human always gets me. I was offered a scholarship to an art school back when i used to draw in highschool, and my dad didn’t approve of that and ripped up all my art work off the wall in my room. My mom told me to secretly go but I wasn’t brave enough to defy my father and wish I did. Good on you Luke to follow your dreams despite someone in your family putting you down! I regret that part of my past and still don’t talk to my father to this day sadly. Lesson learnt, don’t let tear your dreams apart, kids!

Idk if you already knew this but tanjiros va is also falco’s from aot. Also, demon slayer has a lot of naruto vas so when you watch that look out for shared vas (and a few other big vas from other anime like bleach and hxh)

Boar Head had a lot of self control when yout think about it cause he refused to hit Zenitsu for so long with his katanas and just kicked him instead. He has the decency to not straight up kill people bothering hilm. Tanjiro is the most well written good guy ever, i love him as a person and he is an inspiration as a main character. Zenitsu is really loud and annoying but he has his cool moments so i don't hate him. Tanjiro waiting that long to act and the flashback was definitely just a way to stretch up the episode and end on this cliffhanger 😅

Hey Luke, and/or the other viewers that may know more about the recordings, both those from yt and from twitch (for the other series on the green channel). Had a question. Would it be possible to record the anime audio and your own separately, so as to be able to mute only the anime audio when copyright becomes a hassle? I’ve seen other channels that do that kind of thing for copyrighted sections, such as AliciaxLife, who has most of the audio cut out for the anime, but still has mic audio consistent throughout. I’m not sure if that’s too hard to do reasonably, or if it requires more equipment and stuff, but I was just curious, since there have been multiple times when the audio gets grainy or hard to understand, or when sections get muted and nothing being commented on is audible, such as with a few of the jujustu kaisen reactions, to recall something from a while ago. Sorry if this is too insensitive, but I was just wondering, or perhaps suggesting, since I thought about it a moment ago (currently catching up with your demon slayer reactions, on 7, I think).

Have you had any eye tests? You may have two different vision defects in each eye. As a result, one eye strains more than the other when viewing a screen (or in everyday life) and tears are triggered as a side effect.

There's only ONE instance of a demon backstory that i'm not entirely sold on forgiving them and that's like...what season 2? 3? Zen's been my favorite since we first saw him cuz hey hi same i'm anxious about everything too but his outbursts are so fucking funny can't help but love him and him being like _yes i know there's a demon but tanjiro is good i can hear it so there must be a reason this is precious to him_ HE'S SUCH A GOOD BOI I LOVE HIM

Tbh, you're not really supposed to forgive any of them, just understand their story and feel empathy for the human they used to be (for most of them anyway)

6:03 I am sorry this happened to you. Congratulations on publishing books, though! That's an awesome thing to have achieved. I am an aspiring writer myself, but I have yet to finish any of my stories. Even the ones I have endings for in my head aren't written yet. If you have any tips on fighting writer's block, I would take it, haha. Back to the episode! I appreciate how highly you value Tanjiro's consideration for others. It's one of my favorite aspects of his character, and one that always moves others to action. I think Zenitsu actually acknowledges this in his own way at the end of the episode. Demon Slayer also reminds you often that demons were once human. Some forget who they were and are reminded of themselves by Tanjiro. Others, like the first demon Tanjiro fought after passing the Final Selection, aren't so understandable. It's one aspect I really like about the series. Thank you for your reaction! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

Now season 4 is going Demon slayer is at another level. It's a awesome anime with slow at start. Back stories are awesome. One of the best anime now Demon slayer 😊

i usually hate loud, noisy, clumsy characters like inosuke (especially him) and zenitsu, and hates even more to naive, too kind hearted, too positive character like tanjiro. but somehow this anime magically makes me embrace those characters, and i love everysecond of it. the perfect trio. inosuke and haganezuka are my favourite

"Why was Tanjiro waiting like that ?" He just wanted you to get blue balled by the cliffhanger like the rest of us lmao But yeah jokes aside, that is just a usual way to drag the end of an episode in order to time the cliffhanger perfectly.

Zenitsu is definitely my favorite character. I typically hate the tired split personality cliche to be honest, but Zenitsu's thing is a little more interesting than that. It's more of a trance or a dreamlike state than a new persona. He mentioned that he can sometimes hear things even when he's sleeping, so you could say he's sort of conscious in that state. But he's not conscious enough to feel fear or insecurity, which are the only things holding him back when he's awake. It's also cool how quickly these two episodes can make everyone go from hating Zenitsu to loving him. The writer quickly established that he was cowardly and weak to make him seem as useless as possible. But then we see he's actually really powerful without knowing it which suddenly makes his cowardice seem more funny than annoying. And then we see him defend Nezuko and realize that underneath his cowardly exterior he has an anime protagonists resolve.

I think Tanjiro froze because he was reminded of the murder of his family, but I also thought it was weird for him to stand there for soo long, maybe he was trying to restrain himself
