The Small Faces were another great English band from the 60's. They had some great hits "Itchycoo Park", "Lazy Sunday", "All Or Nothing", "Whatcha Gonna Do About It" etc. In 1969 after lead singer/guitarist Steve Marriott left the group to form Humble Pie" & the remaining members of Small Faces were joined by Ronnie Wood (guitar) & Rod Stewart (lead vocals), both from the Jeff Beck Group, & the new line-up was renamed "Faces".

Steve Marriott had such a great soulful style of singing. Loved him with Small Faces and later with Humble Pie. Love watching people react to it. Been big into Steve Marriott's music since the early 70s when I first heard him.

The lead here with Small Faces is Steve Marriott, a dynamo with amazing vocals. Check him out doing "Black Coffee" with Humble Pie, a group he formed later. The song performance I'm suggesting was performed on the show The Old Grey Whistle Test. Real vibe going on between Steve and the backup sistas, The Blackberries, and the performance is not to be missed! Steve at one point was being considered to play and sing with The Rolling Stones, but frontman Mick Jagger feared Steve's energy, charisma, and vocal chops would shift the spotlight away from his own role with the Stones, and nixed him joining. Steve was considered to have one of the absolute best rock voices of the era. So good that Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin shamelessly ripped off his singing style. Unfortunately, Steve doesn't get the credit he deserves. Also, at the height of his career, his manager scammed him financially, and Steve left the bigtime to just work small clubs. Sadly, he died in a house fire.

Steve Marriott was utterly besotted with PP Arnold & I think they formed a relationship at this time. I love the way she is staged as though on a pedestal & an object of yearning, it's just so sweet. Thank you for your appreciation of this great music which keeps it alive
