Heeeyyyy, you did it! Thank you so much, and I really appreciate the kind words. There's an easygoing warmth to your reactions which is great, and you seem to really appreciate this era. Tin Soldier is such an easy song to recommend to people - it fuses so many great sounds, like you said. That performance was completely mimed I think, but it's cool to see Steve's moves and the wonderful presence of PP Arnold (who did a great version of Cat Stevens' The First Cut Is The Deepest.). I was born in 1980 so this is before my time, but The Small Faces are one of my favourite 60s bands - I'd put their best stuff up there with anything by The Who, The Beatles, The Stones, The Kinks... whoever you want to name. They were very influenced by the soul and r'n'b of the time (they do a great cover of Sam Cooke's Shake, more in the style of Otis Redding's version). They also touched on psychedelia / experimental stuff with the Ogden's Nut Gone Flake album. I just love them. Eventually Steve Marriott left and the remaining three Small Faces recruited Ronnie Wood (guitar) and Rod Stewart (vocals) and became The Faces. Ronnie Wood joined The Rolling Stones a few years later, and Rod Stewart is Rod Stewart. For a couple of years, I think The Faces might have been the most untouchable rock'n'roll band on the planet (not that I was alive then).

Thank you so much, I very much appreciate this message & your input on the era, it's something cool between us I think I just noticed, that in many ways we're both stepping into musicians & & genre's that the other is more familiar with, so like R&B & pop & big vocals diva's & dance music from the 60s--90s is my thing to my core and I love hearing you talk about groups like these because I can recognize that's your core & it's what I'm learning more of, you know what we both bridge the damn gap & I love that, and I salute & support you man & looking forward to more of the journey on the bridge :)

Love The Small Faces, Steve Marriott is in my humble (pie) opinion the greatest male vocalist the UK has produced. I'd love to see you react to Humble Pie's live performance of Black Coffee on The Old Grey Whistle Test ❤

Hooray! I am so happy to see another music lover discover the brilliant Small Faces, my favorite band behind the Beatles. This short lived band(only 1965-68) featured four extremely talented teenagers from the East End of London, fronted by the now legendary singer/guitarist Steve Marriott. They were huge in Europe, releasing hit after hit and touring all over, except sadly the US, which is probably why so few people in this country have heard of them. After he quit Small faces in 1969, Steve formed another band, Humble Pie, with a fellow disgruntled "teen idol, (who was also sick of that tag), Peter Frampton, who later came to great prominence with his 1976 monster hit "Frampton Comes Alive). Marriott was highly respected by his peers and is considered one of the greatest ever soul/rock singers by the likes, of Robert Plant, Roger Daltry, David Bowie, and many more. Here are a couple songs you ought to try for a variety of Marriott's talents: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qtZgnb1lp63ZdKs.html You need Lovin by Small Faces. Super fan Robert Plant was inspired by this performance to create Led Zeppelins hit - Whole Lotta Love kzfaq.info/get/bejne/aNp-orae0dTcp4U.html Black Coffee by Humble Pie. This one is guaranteed to blow you away. Love to watch the reactors faces when Steve first opens his mouth!! I am a new subscriber and look forward to hear more of your reactions. Great job!

PP Arnold was in a relationship with Steve Marriot, which probably explains her inclusion here, she was a great vocalist in her own right

The video (dubbed with the single) was recorded by a French Tv channel, they played this during the close out of a pop program, and accidentally captured one of the most amazing performances ever. It is now a legend. The original video together with the audio (low quality) was also on YT until recently, and had a huge following. The channel appears to have been shut down, which is a tragic loss for such a performance.

If you like that, you may like this; Steve Marriott with his other band, Humble Pie, on their last US tour, IIRC. Both Marriott and Clem Clemson take guitar solos. FYI - the song was originally done by Ray Charles. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hr-dorCKndeofn0.html

And keep going with the Elvis, man. He was the real deal, one of the most soulful singers ever. Just remember that, a) he never wrote any of his songs, b) it doesn't matter, c) he was the greatest. If I Can Dream was a great reaction from you - absolutely my favourite performance by anyone. Suspicious Minds is a must - make sure you pick a live version that's around 7 minutes long from Vegas. Iconic.

AH I will definitely be adding that to the list, there's new Elvis coming this week but there will be space for more for sure, his introduction to my channel was record breaking for my channel so there will be more lol

To be honest... i prefer Small faces in their 1966 R&B era... both Steve flexing his vocals more and Mac just straight up fire on the organ. They toned that down for this later pop recordings. Just listen to the 1966 Live in belgium album. (Sometime Plonk, the bassist is singing like in the opening track of that live album... not as good as Steve... but serviceable.. and kind of cool that Steve let's his mate sing too even if he know he can dance circles around him). And Mac just straight up ripping the organ a new one... i mean those kids were like 18 or 19 then...
