The TPK 25G Solid pineapple sounded best out of all of them.

I tune my Pequeno to gCEA. I find it still has as much volume and bark as my sopranos, if not more. I use Worth Browns on it. Beautifully made instrument, especially for the price! It’s hard to put down. Thanks for posting this. I really dig these small-scale instruments.

What Worth Browns do you use, the BL or the BE? The g and the a string of both are different strong. I will try Aquila Reds on my Pequeno, also tuned gCEA. Just waiting for the arrival of them.

Totally agree regarding the Sopranino pineapple sounding the best. The Pequeno sounded good as well but the rest sounded like toys to me.

I would legitimately buy one of these just to ditty around on trips or backpack camping by myself. Surprised by the dark tone of some of the instruments despite the size.

I run Fremont Hard Soprano Strings (are they available in the UK?) on my sopranino/sopranissimos so that I can tune them to GCEA tuning, and I'm pretty happy with the results. Most of the events I attend are GCEA-centric events and it just gets too hard to try to transpose on the fly. I bought one of the Ohana Pineapple Sopranissimos simply for air travel. It is lovely how it can fit easily into a carry-on bag. I'm looking forward to seeing the Ortega models soon.

IME, having GCEA tuning is is possible by using alternative strings for my Teeny Tiny Pineapple & SK21. There is video floating around where some guy uses GHS strings. I experimented w/various fluorocarbon fishing line & found a combo that that works pretty well.

Nice, informative video, thank you!! I do love the size and shape of the pineapple sopranissimo but, dear me, they sound shrill! (I know, I know, the smaller the size, the higher the notes). They are beautiful to look at, so glossy and small with that shape. TPK-70G Sopranino, perhaps thanks to its solid spruce does not only look good, it also sounds slightly better. Still too high, though... :(

I have tried the Ohana SK 21. It is one of the best looking ukes I have come across. Its sound however is disapointing: harsh, tight, metallic...Why this if it is all solid woods? A clue could be in its weight i.e this sopranino weights the same that my Kiwaya soprano. Also the thickness of the top is about double than the Kiwaya´s. I do not expect a sopranino to sound like a soprano but certainly better than this. Pity as it is such a beautiful instrument. Like always a very informative and entertaining review. Thank you!

With the limited number of frets, a linear tuning would really give them some more range. It would be interesting to see them tuned to linear CFAD or DGBE using soprano or concert GCEA strings.

I thought these both were tuned GCEA octave higher than regular uke.

Strings are available to do this but it’s not the Norm. You would need Aquila Piccolo strings
