Just a suggestion.....if you are thinking about a locker for the ambulance, consider a Detroit Locker. It requires no maintenance or action from you to work and they automatically provide positive traction for the drive wheels when in a low traction situation while unlocking during normal driving. Added bonus, they are cheaper and easier to install the the ARB Locker and are pretty much bullet proof.

Someone earlier in video was asking Chrome for info on where the store was and name etc, but he 'gotz no time for such things, haha. I kind of figured it out even though Chrome cut away a lot of names of stores etc.

Need a one way check valve for your air to your locker. Also check your vent tube from the rear end.

I hope you checked your rear diff and filled it with oil. If you drive even a short distance with low level oil you're risking serious damage.

If the vent got mud-caked , have Doug install extension tubing to an Elevated & Protected location , safe from splashing.

Normally there is little if any pressure in the differential housing. If there's enough pressure that oil is being pushed up through the air line you almost certainly have a glogged breather. Blocking off the hose to the locker without making sure the breather is clear will result in built up pressure pushing oil out your axle seals.

@@Brocephus77 The gear oil can only make it that far through the air line and back to the compressor is if there is pressure in the axle housing. The way his system is installed it's uphill from the seals in the ARB to the compressor. I've replaced O-rings on ARB's that were dumping air into the housing. I've found small amounts of oil in the hard line running from the case to the carrier but not once had any significant amount of oil made it into the flex line let alone all the way back to a cab mounted compressor.

Just want to say been following for like 3 years .. took that long to decide. Currently in the process of selling all my stuff in my house… gonna move home and stay with family for two years an work on my welding certificates.. while I’m doing that building out a 4x4 truck camper to live out of for a few years!! So excited!!!

Rust proofing. What about something like a Detroit locker? They are a bit noisy when turning, but work well. They are a mechanical locker. Much less complicated than an air locker. Likely cheaper too.

Living in a van it’s not that much different than living in a house! Here in Florida I just survived hurricane in no water in the house whatsoever! So two weeks from the storm there’s water in the kitchen. Leaking from the roof? No it’s the dishwasher L O L. whether you live on a quarter acre lot with a cinderblock house or you live in a 20 foot van there is always something you have to attend to for sure

I'll give you another option Yukon makes a locker and they have instead of o-ring seals they have one way flat seals they're more like the seals that are in your transmission instead of O-rings

Sounds like your differential vent is plugged, building pressure. luckily its going up your air compressor line, and not out your axle seals.

Yep. Heavy oil and my theory is your differential vent may be plugged so when things warm up in the differential pressure builds up and forces gear lube through the air line.
