Yes, I didn't want to say because I probably couldn't do any better but, where is the luminescence? Her skin looks rough. Like it's dropped... Too much sag under the eyes, makes her look like a jaded knocking shop seller. Either way, although he's good, he didn't quite capture her youth or beauty. As a portrait artist for many years, I can say this is one of the most exquisite oil portraits I have ever seen in my life. The balance achieved by capturing realism while still maintaining brush work is masterful. Trust me, this is much harder than any ordinary hyperrealism.

@@ngandang1765 well by hyperrealism Kevin meant photorealism, I think
@LillPoss4 жыл бұрын
I agree with you on that, hyperrealism or photorealism, while great skill but in my view is more like painting by numbers, as in 99% it's a copy of the photograph transferred on surface in one way or the other then copy of the colours from photograph to the painting as close as possible, a great skill, a lot of effort but usually still a copy rather than a vision of the artist

`Most` and `few` people here doesnt know about fine art technique. If you realize from the start, when the artist make the abstract painting, the visual angle is very different which is show in camera, so that means the painting result is based of the artist visual angle, not camera. (I was digital artist, but i just directly notice it from the begining) And also that applied to lightning, if you notice.. there is a different visual in lightning strength and ambient, between camera and what the artist seen. so the artist look the light more softer that camera, thats why he make the `shrink` above the eye (and that make people think looks old), because those shrink above the eye were visible in artist eye. All of that just because artist paint it in different angle, and that effected into lights strengts in visual. Thats all. And everything from the technique he`s demonstrate is stuning !!
@joobletmaster50005 жыл бұрын
Also, I don't know anything about oil paints, so correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks thick. You can see most every brush stroke he makes, so there are lines across her face that make her appear older than she is from the brushes. It doesn't seem to be about his technique. I think it's just the medium he's using.
@LadyJayBird905 жыл бұрын
Li At Sea it’s called fat on lean, it’s an oil painting technique. Start with a thin wash first then gradually the paint gets thicker. From up close in a painting, particularly oil and acrylic you’ll be able to see brush strokes. That’s why a painting of this sort is usually meant to be viewed a few feet away rather than up close.

@@LadyJayBird90 However, this is alla prima, meaning it is done wet on wet in often one sitting, and then the fat over lean principle does not really apply. Only when painting in layers, wet on dry, does fat over lean apply.

Great video will go on my playlist. I'm an impressionist, I'd make her look like a zombie reflection in a mud puddle painted with intense emotion and loud color. It would not have looked this pretty LOL.

Truly amazing, both the piece itself and more importantly craftsmanship element of it. My brother paints too, I remember I myself have tried to delve more into the painting world and I remember it ended up terribly although I did have some appreciation of the monstrosity of a painting that I created that day haha. I have always wondered how some people find having to paint anything that they desire so effortless - it was a huge mystery, I thought perhaps they could see colours more vividly or maybe compartmentalise and memorise them in a way that they could mimic pretty much any shade of a colour that they want? I myself do my own clothes and the more I study tailoring, all the formulaes and application techniques I came to the conclusion that it is all about one thing - proportion. I can make do with a calculator when I draft the pattern etc but seeing him just swirling the brush left and right, up and down in this nonchalant manner in the beginning stage and yet still being able to achieve a shape that even though looks so obscure and fromless yet makes perfect sense when you look at it is just truly magnificent.

The one who watched the whole video without skipping any part is a true artist because to be an artist difintely he/she will need high patience.

Very true now I understand engineers can never have patience. Since I didn't watch it without skipping I was intrested in end result only.

I think the painting is more realistic (alive), than the photo, there seems to be more movement in the painting, wonderful, magical work 🙏🏽🦋🦋🦋🦋🦋🎶🎶🎶🎶❤️🎶🎶🎶🎶 the painting is also softer 😊

You could probably do better with practice. His portraits kind of look lifeless in my opinion. Not being negative at all, just stating my honest opinion.
