@Sullivan Reck he sure did hit him hard but the announcers are not always correct. the rules expert was also on the telecast and in his opinion that was a blow to the head and earned a DQ. does not matter if the person uses the shoulder or leads with the helmet, a blow to the head is not tolerated. this is not anything new.

As an OU fan I can see them giving out the PF but the DQ wasn't needed. I think you only save those for the most egregiously purposeful infractions. This was not that.

Instead he jerked Headfirst backwards which is super unexpected by any defense player. (Tbh we are taught against that on offense because 2 yards isnt worth the risk of being paralyzed, there are better ways to get to the marker.) Isheem did a fundamental tackle. It's just in the 1 second he had his eyes closed the offensive player was in a different position. It was Targeting technically yes, but targeting was a rule created to protect players again malicious play. They way they are currently set up tho, they took a 19 year old out of the biggest game of his career just when it started, over doing a fundamental tackle that been taught that way for football most of all of our lives. Sad when the rules work too good like in this case...

I haven't seen that play, but it is certainly possible for the player doing the "targeting" to injure themselves, not just the possibility of injuring the targeted player. Leading with the helmet is dangerous both ways.

I agree, kinda like the flagrant fouls in NCAA basketball. Flagrant 1 is just a penalty. Flagrant 2 is immediate ejection. Could easily do something similar with targeting. Targeting 1 is a 15 yard penalty and automatic first down. Targeting 2 is a 15 yard penalty, automatic first down, and an ejection.

He’s falling backwards and most likely will hit the ground. There was no need for him to try and even hit him. He see him falling and you see the defender hesitate to hit at first and then he just launches. The refs did a good job.

That’s not how it works he is a defenseless player they are trying to refrain from players getting seriously injured and by rule it was targeting wether we like it or not you can’t hit a defenseless player in the head.

Stoops was falling down and defenseless. He had plenty of time to pull up but instead opted to lower his helmet and hit the receiver in the head / neck area. According to the rules it was targetting. I felt bad for the guy but as a player you should know better.

Every oklahoma fan I know has said that. Thank yall for being honest. Losing our 2nd best defensive player, 2nd play of the game for a legal tackling position was ridiculous. And then target his backup all game after. Wasnt Oklahomas fault but definitely was called for them by the refs, couple no calls on facemasks. No call on the targeting ok did on Kolar. Just was a mess on the officials part. Congrats on the win. Hopefully we both get a New Years 6 bowl at least somehow. 🙏

Which calling targeting cuz a defender hits a receiver really hard is just Bullshit unless they do launch themselves, hard hits are a part of the game nowadays and plus they're adults and supposed to be able to withstand hard hits so if they can't take a hard hit maybe they shouldn't play football

I also feel bad for the kid but there is no reason for ISU fans to blame the officials. There are rules and as of today that is a rule and the result is a flag. I don't like the rule for this play because maybe the kid could stay in the game but the officials did their job very well today. ISU is just upset they lost but they also need to grow up, especially that head coach!

The game needs to be safer definitely, but agreed it doesnt seem like football. It's only been 10 years since I've played but I could confidently say if I played the way I was taught to play then, but in today's game I would probably be ejected alot. Fuck point was to make the offense feel us everytime they had the ball. Now you cant even tackle a quarterback without worrying if it was a legal tackle on his and you cant even touch a wide receiver on his route it feels like.
