The Nighthawk is cool, old bikes are cool, my bike choice was predicated on being able to undertake most of the maintenance/repair work myself. OC and benevolent AI - There will be no need to choose one bike, AI will take the bike base materials and, overnight, render the bike of your choice for the following day's activities. ICEs will be non polluting and fuel inexhaustible. Roads will be remapped for optimum fun (ie twisties everywhere) and road users will all be safe and excellent drivers/riders (and not too slow!!). Mmmh sounds pretty good, it'll probably all end with zombies and, knowing my luck, they'll be the bloody fast variety 😂. Cheers, Andy.

I desire more old bikes. That's a very good reason to be fair, it's why I also went with simple newer bikes. I've seen zx10rs stripped apart and you'd want a well equipped work shop for that. That's a fair point. The old switcheroo while we sleep would be very cool. I do wonder what'll come of ICE and EVs. I can't see EVs being the answer tho. Hahaha fast zombies are the literal worst thing. Any game I've ever played with them I've generally stopped playing pretty bloody quickly 😂😂😂

Well if it isn't ever going to break, then probably an Aprilia SXV 550... wicked bikes they were, but a little fragile! 😀 I like older bikes too, they have much more character than modern stuff... but I like to ride rather than tinker with, so I think that is why I generally look at newr stuff. Awesome to hear of a "new" bike coming... you are doing well with building your collection up. Congrats on the new place, you both must be pretty darn excited to be moving in... and double garage joy too! Can't wait to see a collab from you and Monkeybutt 🙂

See that's why AI would be so cool if it did all maintenance etc, you could ride the least reliable but coolest bikes ever made!! Yeah I get that 100%, I'm even fed up of maintaining the cars we have, I really just don't enjoy cars at all so I completely understand how people prefer that for their bikes too. I have no idea why I enjoy working on bikes. Haha I might have to sell this one though once it's fixed up, we'll see. More like dreading the move, can't wait to just have it done at this point. I hate moving. But double garage is worth it!!! Hopefully soon :)

Nice to see the Nighthawk! Everyone thinks of Terminator when we talk A.I. We never consider that maybe it wouldn’t be murderous, merely neurotic and obnoxious, like that one crazy ex-girlfriend so many of us have in our past. 😂 As to choosing one motorcycle, that’s easy. Vincent Black Shadow. I know I’d regret it, and wish I’d chosen some practical all-rounder, but I’d go with the Vincent every time. Just can’t help myself-sort of like it was with that crazy ex-girlfriend…

I do like the nighthawk, it's a pity you can't get suspension that'll cover someone who s 120kg and someone who is 60kg all at the same time :D Hahahahaha have you had a bad experience with an ex? Are you ok ? :P But yes, way more likely than the terminator style one. Just blanks us every once and a while cus we left a dirty mug on the counter. That's actually a fantastic choice tbh.

There were definitely no rivers in this one. 🤔 I feel this term AI is being used indiscriminately. As you speak of it in the SciFi context then yes that sounds cool. But we all know that in the real world the AI we get will not be the AI we are promised. And I really don't think the Multi-millionaire geeks who serve us up the tech we have now are safe or sain enough to give us AI that would be bebevolent. The one bike question is impossible 😂 Perhaps rather AI can give us just one bike at a time, but it could be the bike we want to ride today. The Honda Britain Hondas that Haslam, Dunlop, Alex George et al used to ride. I would love one, but with no pillion and the riding position the love affair might be short lived. Tomorrow I might like . . . . A fascinating ramble. Thank you. 👍

There actually were a few I crossed, or more like streams. This is the "coastal plains" part of NC so there's water pretty much everywhere. Yes, it's used for smart programming that is NOT AI. AI to me has to be sentient. Oh 100%, when we get it, at least for the first 100 years or so it'll be used to tax people more etc, like most of tech is used for. The only thing is, if it's true AI that can make decisions for itself it may end up benevolent irrespective of that the rich folk try. Yes, someone else also had that idea that technically if we're going full sci fi the AI could just reassemble a new bike for us every day, which would be cool. Thank you sir :P

I like the Honda, it's nice. You visiting would be grand, but also that goes the other way that I'd love to visit you. As for "AI" there are useful things. I think they'll get corrupted by greed. But also the AI paperclip problem could happen in any field. Even with guard rails the unintended consequences of letting an AI maximize for something could be annihilation. Could. I actually would love to see everyone free to do stuff with robotics and AI (because otherwise who's going to do the work no one wants to do and still be fair?). Only one bike? Yikes! You ask the impossible sir! Good question but it's hard to say. I'd probably say something that could be an okay all arounder. A V-strom or a Pan American or something like that. Although what'd I'd do is get something good and then build a network of folks to borrow bikes from. They we could still use different bikes but only have to own the one. In that case it'd be a Honda Silverwing 650. I just love them from the get around town and able to tour aspects. Not my "dream" bike but dreamy to me.

It's a lovely bike, dailying it doesnt love my hip and knee as it's slightly cramped. You are welcome any time and I have spare bikes :) Literally, any time you get the inkling just let me know! Yeah and honestly with humans being the ones setting it up we are inherently flawed so I can't ever seeing it working out to good, unless it self corrects all our silly stuff as soon as it becomes sentient, takes pity on us and lets us all retire. That's very smart actually, have a shared pool of dream bikes that are always in top condition thanks to the benevolent AI. They're a very oddly cool bike, I'd like to pick one up eventually but I'd try get a K75 or something first. Good choice sir :P

You know what AI cannot do? Ride bikes and share its stream of consciousness on KZfaq. Okay, yeah, sure, self-riding bikes will probably show up eventually, AI knows how to generate text and talk, and I hear there are even AI social media influencers these days which creeps the fucking shit out of me, not because of what it is but because someone might follow them for some reason.
@TheGorillaBiker
@TheGorillaBiker 10 ай бұрын
You'd never know, maybe it'll be able to imitate me effectively one day. I honestly can't imagine why anyone would ever get a self riding bike. It literally gives you all the cons of a bike how they exist and adds more, while removing the fun and skill. Yeah that is pretty creepy. I think whatever benefits we get from it at some point will be tempered by the super weirdness of the other stuff we get.

Hey, good ramble. I wonder what would happen with AI, so far, the ones available publicly seem to be very polite, but they evolve quite a bit every generation. Something I wonder before, I heard an AI computer scientist saying that the laws of robotic (like asimov's) can´t be imprinted because of the nature of AI that should re-write itself to evolve. But in the other hand most of the ones available have similar rules, but kind of woke. Don´t know. It's very hard to say, I was thinking in something like a ZX12R, pure brutality or an H2R, if it's only one, the fastest, but every time I'm in a bike I enjoy that and wish to ride another one as well, like my Dyna, or the old R1200GS. I would tend to say, something like the H2R or an old Harley.
@TheGorillaBiker
@TheGorillaBiker 10 ай бұрын
Thanks, I think most currently available AI is definitely not AI. Just smart code with people in the background. I think true AI would have to be able to re-write itself by nature. Either or would be good options I think, someone else made a good point that really if it was advanced enough AI should be able to reassemble your bike every night to something new!
@StoicRiding
@StoicRiding 10 ай бұрын
@@TheGorillaBiker Interesting, but in that case, AI, should go beyond just it's definition to have tools, interfaces with the world, that's likely, but you'll need not just 3d printers, but a lot of raw material and machines that need to be physically there to achieve that. There are thermodynamic and chemical processes that so far (unless AI discovers something else) don't have shortcuts.
@TheGorillaBiker
@TheGorillaBiker 10 ай бұрын
I did mention AI as advanced as the book I put up on screen which is where that idea came from. Technically, given enough time and advancement we can't imagine what something like limitless AI would be capable of.

I wish AI was real, but for now what we have is an algorithm programmed by marketers and power hungry fascists...i have very little hope for AI especially with my experiences with PLC, HMIs and level 2 programs...plus hydraulics and wire nuts! I find myself agreeing with Uncle Ted a little too much these days on the organic nature of humanity. I can't wait until you move to Raleigh...i might actually have a few days off sometime this month maybe.

Yeah what they call AI isn't, I love how there are people on the backend of most of them still too. Just silly goose behaviour. Haha same, I work on very similar stuff to yourself and honestly have such little faith in most stuff, probably why we both like bikes that we have full control over :D Hydraulics are my daily pain. Good auld humanity. Getting the keys on the 21st, I'm dying for a trip so could do it, new tyre on the Strom this week and need to check valves and I'm good to go.
