A polite word of advice: please do not hold back if you want to go into detail on a particular piece of the performance. We are here to hear you go to far out there. There are far more reactors out there that just blow out the usual unicorns on how great Nightwish is( spoiler: we know that already!). But reactors willing to go deep and nitpick and explain why they think Nightwish is great - that takes knowledge and insight in music most of those kind of reactors will never achieve. Keep up the great work!

You seem to be intrigued about a choir in the background... check out "Sancta Terra" (live) the vocals are a duet between Floor Jansen of Nightwish and Simone Simons of Epica. I discovered them last year.....and watching this concert I was struck again by how Europeans know so many languages: Floor is a Dutch (married to a Swede by the way and living now in Sweden) singing in a Finnish band..at a metal concert in Germany with an international audience, and they and the audience are singing in English. It’s almost embarrassing as an American....and yeah, I get it......Europe needs a language that they can all communicate through and especially citizens of the smaller countries need to learn English: Americans don’t have a necessity to learn another language, and if we do, we don’t have the opportunity to use it (my high school French? Yeah, forgot most of it). But it’s STILL impressive to me.
@neffscape6353
@neffscape6353 3 жыл бұрын
The language thing is actually nothing special in Europe. I think every person knows at least another foreign language (English, usually) which is a true necessity to be able to work and travel around here. In addition, if you happen to live in a tiny country in the middle of Europe like me, you end up studying and using at least 4 languages on a daily basis. Knowing English, French, German and for me Italian (mother tongue) is very common where I live in Switzerland.
@wingedyera
@wingedyera 3 жыл бұрын
Here in the Netherlands you are taught English from age 10 (at least thats when we started), then when you start our version of highschool you are introduced to French and German which is obligated for at least 1 year but depending on which level of education you have you can drop or have to continue them. I think English is always obligated. I personally had to do both German, French and English until my last year (18 years old) and of course there are always additional optional languages to add so that probably adds to knowing other languages. Also the Dutch knowledge of English is usually relatively high because we usually don't dub movies or series. We only subtitle and about 70% of our television is American or British so 🤷

Definitely a band worthy of a very deep dive. This is one of their more aggressive tracks amongst an incredibly dynamic scale of compositional, instrumental, vocal and presentation mastery. Nightwish has at least 20 tracks that will profoundly reshape our appreciation for the capability of quality in music. Personally, for me, this particular offering happens to fall near the bottom of that list. That says a lot for what remains to be uncovered as you expose yourself to this amazing group. And, even in live venues, they do not miss a single note. Incredible stuff. Epic adventure! Truly appreciate the knowledge and unique perspective that you so generously share. Thanks!

Always a good reaction - I'm not particularly knowledgeable about the nit and grit of how music is constructed, but with enough insights like yours, I may develop a whole new form of Nerd-dom. Looking forward to more, and especially the details - don't skimp, please !

Hi! Found ya a few videos ago. I don't particularly like Nightwish, but loving your reacts and input. I'd love a separate playlist where you get more into the deconstruction of the tracks. Sometimes you stop when you're like " Oh, i'm getting too far..."

This is actually the first "reacts to" channel I've subscribed because your professional knowledge actually adds something to the listening experience instead of "wows" and "that was goods" of other similar channels.

I like your reactions alot. Don't change anything about them! For me, to ahead and to out there about the timing and methods all of that I love those things. Your reactions facewize, if that's even a word are tell all and appreciation we all feel for the band. I have followed NW since "04 and today I am just as state-owned about them today as I was in the beginning. My request would be "Ghost River" from Wacken as well. Thanks !!😁😁😁👊

I know your very early into your nightwish journey but I love the way you decompose their work. The poet and the pendulum and the greatest show on earth are 2 of their masterpieces and I know you will be blown away these 2 compositions. You have to research the songs though to gain some background knowledge of what they are about.
@TerranigmaQuintet

no need for any of that, don't get why people keep saying this, those 2 songs are awesome enough on their own without needing any backgroudn info on them whatsoever.

@@TerranigmaQuintet True, i was listening to Poet for years without knowing what it was about and it didn't stop me loving the song. But just a little background on it and Greatest show won't hurt. Especially with greatest show since the first 5 mins can seem a bit indulgent if you don't know that the creation of the universe is happening within the music.

Thank you for another great reaction on Nightwish, I hope you'd soon make a reaction to their version of the Phantom of the Opera with their original singer, and you could also hear their male vocalist Marko really show you what he is made of, since he has been mostly just playing bass or doing backing in these ones :) But don't react to the Hank and Floor's version of Phantom of the Opera, at least not yet, that is something completely different

i just simply know that i love the power of this song, but it is great to learn about all the technical aspects that are going on and make music so special to listen. this group have awesome pieces, it’s worthy you join all of us who are crazy about this band. for what’s worth, the poet and the pendulum is my all favourite, i think it is really a masterpiece, a real emotional journey into tuomas mind; i was on wembley concert… and it will be an unforgettable moment!

Awesome analysis! It was the Metropolitan Voices Choir you were hearing, Nightwish uses them a lot, along with the London Symphony Orchestra. We are not a fan-base we are a family, and one that you are invited to join anytime you wish.

"Happy hunting, you double face carnivore" 🔥🤘 the back and forth between Floor and Marko is pure fire! And I get you when it comes to the headbanding, I'd love to do it like Floor and those guys on the crowd but I'd end up seriously hurting myself (I have a catheter draining brain fluid from the head to my abdomen and it would rip off if I go too crazy lol)

Finally, someone actually acknowledging one of my favorite parts of this song: that powerful steamrolling deep riff through the first parts of the song (bass/guitar/drum combo). Grabs you by the sack and says "you WILL rock!"

Epic, just epic! I never thought I would see a band outdo Roger Waters' 'The Wall' stage show, but I honestly believe Nightwish did, and do - every time they play. Astonishing! As always, Floor sets the bar, not only with her voice, but her presence on stage. These guys are the full package. Whoever composes and arranges their performances are geniuses. It's gratifying to hear a professional reaction, also.
