Late GMT400 with 4WD and a manual? You got my attention It brings me memories of a 92 C3500 truck with an enclosed bed we had on our family business for over 15 years. Ours was a 4 spd manual/350 TBI, though

Even with a broken transmission, it's still a great truck to have! It's got everything that you could ask for in a late 90s truck! Manual, 4x4, extended cab w/shortbed, and wicked pinstriping! I can't wait for the next video! 7:33 Did not hear a "Yee Yee" from you lol 😆

Before replacing the transmission, check to make sure the shift tower isn't the problem. There's supposed to be a plaster spacer/bushing on the end of the shifter ball that goes into the metal cup on the shift fork rail. When that plastic piece breaks it creates a lot of slop in the shifter and can prevent the shift forks from operating properly. You can get a new replacement for $50-75.

Looks like it will be a good truck with a little work. I prefer manual transmissions, but they're getting harder to find.

Had the exact same truck color and pinstriping, and came from Canada to the US , mine had been sitting for about 8 years, the fuel pump was dead and the tank was nasty with ethanol but with good gas it ran great.

At least a manual transmission has understandable inner workings. I would recommend spending the time on disassembly and troubleshooting. Manual transmissions are getting hard to find.

Gmc and Chevy trucks are dependable and reliable as they come in trucks in general. I had a 1996 gmc Sonoma 2.2l with over 354, 000 miles before I started having problems. Over 9 years of truly reliably since I owed it at 127000 miles. Probably could have gotten more miles out of truck but , I learned the hard way don't let other people drive your vehicle that you absolutely don't trust. Hey should of had beetle with a little more weight trying to put that hitch on the ball. Your determination sets you apart from others. Take care and always stay safe 🙏

having a 92 k1500 fleetside its be a tank in snow ,,gmt 400 trucks are some of the best on the road ,,took 8 weeks to get mine new ,it has things on it that most went with the z71,,,but i have rallys red interior black out side ,, delco shocks not the cheap oil leaker bilstein shocks ,,,i know how they are made,,,working for delco in dayton i know the good an the bad ,,lol

Previous owner smash gears just cause it manual don't mean you can't ruin it like auto as well. Chevy power runs like started yesterday. Get transmission in it be nice Chevy wish lived closer i wouldn't mind own Chevy with manual 4 wd again

yeah there is a lot of problems with dewalt jump starters, there are others much smaller and much more powerful, ask your uncle for the receipt and take another one, Otherwise always a pleasure to see your videos, keep it up👍👍

I have a 1997 that I hit with fluid film all the time and yours has less rust than mine! Bumpers and fender lips where they screwed that chrome on are usually gone.

Bleeding that clutch is a pain.

On a side post battery the best way to get connection on them with jump pack, jump cables, etc. is put a pair of needle nose, vise grips on each bolt head on the cables, and then put your jump clamps on the vice grips. It makes it so much easier.

I wonder if the detent is out of sequence in it if you take the shifter off in gear and lift the top off and you don't have in the neutral position it can get out of sequence I would try to fix that one over buying a new transmission

Hi the body on that truck looks fairly decent, my 97 was a Manitoba /Sask prairie truck all it's life up here in Canada and looked after, the body still fell off before the motor and auto trans puked at 256,000 KM. Before you get over exited doing a transmission, that oil level on the dipstick looks high. My motor had exhaust leaks and it blew the head gasket dumping that dex cool garbage in the motor oil, my coolant reservior was empty like this one for that reason. My truck sat a few years before it went for scrap, it fired up ok like this one but the oil /coolant mix was a right mess when it ran and i checked the oil again. The guy that bought it said it's common for gm/ chevs to do this with exhaust leaks. Maybe drop the pan plug after it's sat and see if coolant comes out first, or just check the stick again after its run and see how the oil looks then it will be a funny color and not look right . I had that jump pack. Lasted five years. Replaced it with a capacitor. I'm on year 3 and it works first time, every time. I'll bet $50 a capacitor would have popped that baby off.

You may want to consider a portable or stationary mini lift. I see them online and seem to get the job done How do you plan on replacing the transmission on the pick-up? Unless you know someone with a lift. Those vortech motors are absolutely bullet proof. I have a 2003 trailblazer with over 320k everything original After you replace the transmission, you'll probably have it for life unless you trade or sell it of course.

I had a problem with mine on an 94 chevy manual aswell the roll pin had broken right there on that circle part where you were messing with the rods it seems when you put it in gear that there was a little hole check to see if your pin is still in there I had to install a new one and then it shifted fine

Unloading was like the old pulling the tablecloth trick but with trucks.

I watched the video and it looked to me like the shift fork shaft was not engaged with the part the shifter plugs in to. This would let it feel like it is in a certain gear but as that part is just sliding on the shaft it is not actually moving the shift forks. I am not familiar with that particular transmission, but I do know that on the old Borg Warner T5 the shaft and selector were just secured with a single roll pin. I see what looks like a roll pin hole to the rear of the selector, so it may have fallen out. If I am correct, then it is stuck in 3rd. The fact that NOTHING shifts despite the shifter moving leads me to believe that whatever the issue, it is a simple problem.

No idea how to rebuild a tranny but that gear oil in the tranny when it was spinning looked like mud. I was thinking no wonder the thing broke.

I miss my 98 305 z71 everyday I found a mint one that was stolen from a shop waiting on a 350 swap and its safety inspection. The worse part the thief’s torched the truck after doing a robbery with it . Its almost impossible to find another non rusted out one here in Ontario Canada

Ah, I think you haven’t turn you jump pack into override setting I guess your old battery was no good An override setting allow jump pack to ignore battery voltage and send all the might to the starter

Those jump packs your uncle bought you are ok . Better for what you do to get a JNC660 . They are about $150 on Amazon and last forever and can spin that truck over for 10 mins . Just a suggestion .
