I love the fact that you made it 100% functional again, but you still left a bit of the pitting and the battle scars of years past. These scissors are 80 years old. Each of its scars tells a story. The new owner will love that you preserved the visible marks of time.

I had the exact same pair of scissors for my sewing. My husband used to use them to cut anything. I would hit the roof, cos once used to cut anything other than fabric they wont cut fabric cleanly again. I ended up buying myself a new pair n told him n my kids they could use the old pair to cut whatever they want. Lol. Good job. 👍👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🦘🦘

EXCELLENT!!! Upholsterer on this end. Looks somewhat like a 10" pair of Clauss(or a close copy) shear to me. I'd say a Clauss model 330(or close). That bolt is different than a Clauss bolt as is the nut. The thumb shank & ring look more like a WISS brand model of shear though. I just checked EBAY & am on a site that has a pair of... " Clauss No. 332 12" Heavy Duty Shears Scissors Made In USA Moly Chrome",. He/she is asking $33.99 + $13.25 shipping. The advertised shear still looks great but not near as great as that pair of shears you just refurbished! Like you even replated the shears which I have never heard being done by anyone before! Both Clauss & Wiss shears hold their value. Those old Clauss shears had so much molybdenum added to the formula that their practically as hard as the super alloys of today. The chromium(memory) content in the Clauss shears appears to be maxxed out too as they NEVER LOSE THEIR SHAPE. I didn't mean to talk your head off but I am REALLY impressed with your attention to detail. If you plan on using the shears or $elling them online I can tell you how to set/clearance them to factory specs(even if they are not Clauss brand shears) if interested. Again GREAT job on refurbishing those shears!

Very similar to my dad's Wiss Model 20. He was an upholsterer by trade. I cringed when you put the blades on the belt sander. Glad you got them sharp in the end.

Finally, a project I could tackle without getting confused reassembling the pieces! 🤣

I have scissors like these! I still use them with my 1906 Singer. Which by the way you can still get parts for Its a Singer 29k13. Cheers.

These are some well used fabric scisors. I have a new pair just like these (Seriously, some time in the past there has to have beed a billion forging dies made of this exact model for them to be still produced all around the world) and can tell by comparing them how much the blades have been ground down by sharpening over time.

This big scissors reminded me my grandmother's big, silver-shining scissors which was made in west germany.

Always nice to watch these when a sand blaster isnt involved. Im not willing to invest that much, but this could pay for a drill press easily with the old tools I have laying around that need restored.

I really enjoy watching your videos. You make it look like it's so relaxing doing this. You also get the benefit of taking something that was useless and repurposing it like it was new again. My mother was a tailor and she had exactly the same scissor when i was small. Handle was originaly painted black and blades were without color.

Très belle restauration ! Mais quelle honte d'utiliser ces merveilles pour couper du carton ! Ces ciseaux sont des ciseaux de tailleur ; ils ont peut-être étaient utilisés par quelqu'un qui travaillait le cuir mais toujours pour tailler une pièce. Ce qui caractérise ce type de ciseaux se sont toutes les petites plaquettes et la forme très particulière des "anneaux" dans lesquels on positionne les doigts tout ceci étant destiné à protéger la main de l'utilisateur d'une trop grande fatigue tout en permettant une grande précision dans la découpe ! Bravo pour cette belle vidéo !

The blades were originally hollow ground and I'm guessing here, the original scissors had probably never been sharpened in their lives. If you had cleaned them and not touched the blades with paper or belt, they would be five times sharper than they are now.

Good job. Came across your video as I was in the process of doing a restore of an antique set of scissors very similar to yours. Only problem I have is I can't seem to get the nut off the bolt! Jammed on real tight. Might have to try the heating treatment (carefully!) on the nut. The blades are forged with a hardened steel inner surface and an iron outer. You can see the transition line from one metal to the other. They are still sharp even after all these decades. They don't make them like they used to. BTW, try cutting cloth to see how well they cut, these were tailors or dress makers scissors originally.
