Old Thresher's Reunion 2021 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa

2 жыл бұрынThe Midwest Old Threshers Reunion is an annual event that takes place in the small town of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and runs for five days, ending on Labor Day weekend. It was first held in 1950 and has taken place every year except 2020. When it first started, it focused on steam engines and antique agricultural equipment but has developed into a wider entertainment event. Old Threshers Reunion is an event, that attracts visitors from around the world, attracted by both the permanent exhibits on the reunion grounds and by the collections of antique and steam-powered equipment brought to the show by other visitors.

born in Mt Pleasant and lived near there for 26 yrs before moving out here to CO. Loved going to Old Threshers every year and saw so many great country stars back when they had people like Johnny Cash and Tammy Wynette headline the shows. so many great memories of that town: grandparents, mowing yards there, seeing Star Wars in the movie theater for the first time, Christmas time in the town square.

Ah Mount Pleasant, I was there more years ago then I like to think about. My Uncle, gods rest his soul. Was a huge fan of steam engines and steam tractors. I still have the shirt I was wearing, when an ember burnt a hole in the left pocket. I will get back there before I cant travel. Thanks for the video.

i got to ride in the cab and it was hot bit fun since i got to blow the whistle at crossings

the steam locomotive that they are buildng is #12 ran through the grounds through 1976 and went out of service in 2001 due to boiler failure and running out of oil to fast since it was an oil burner and they are still working on it and say it is due 2024
