Miriam Havard, Cynthia said in another interview I watched, that John was the love of her life and she still was in love with him. But no doubt, Cynthia loved her's and John's son. It has been my experience that if you truly love someone and there is a break up, that doesn't mean that the love you have for each other dies. With some couples, I'm sure that it does die for some. But if it did, then they most likely were not in love.

Disagree. The interviewer is simply reflecting the questions the PUBLIC wanted to know - ie. trying to cover all the bases in the time allowed. In fact, compared to some interviewers of the time I thought John Stapleton had quite a gentle and interested approach.

Cynthia's dull and pedestrian - she must have driven the brilliant John Lennon insane with boredom! Thank God he found love with Yoko, and was personally fulfilled when he was tragically murdered aged 40. Note that Cynthia had two failed marriages after her divorce from Lennon, so she clearly wasn't the wonderful wife material people here are pretending. Yet she clung onto the famous Lennon name like grim death till the day she died! It was her one big claim to fame and she loved it. She never tried to make it independently as an artist. I'd have had more respect for her if she'd reverted to a different name.

G F, I read one interview with John, at the time he and Yoko Ono became an item, in which he said of his relationship with Cynthia, "Cyn got pregnant, so I married her." I wondered from that time on if he ever really loved Cynthia, or if he simply "did the right thing" by marrying her.

This woman had such a kind and upstanding character - something that is rarely seen in the world no matter the era. She had every right to hate on both John and Yoko - John for not having the integrity to stick around to be the father their son needed, and Yoko who notoriously came between the little family they once were - yet she chose not to say a single cross word about either of them. In my opinion, that makes her one hell of a class act, and a tremendous example of an upstanding human being. I'm sure she must be missed so dearly.

There's something so incredibly gentle, accepting and loving about this lady yet... She must in some way be tough as nails to have kept herself and her sanity together amidst and after the madness that was the life of the Beatles PLUS she managed to raise a son who turned into a thoughtful, real man with a true heart. What she was AFTER her divorce from John and the man her son turned out to be is the most remarkable thing in this whole story. ALL the rest, as real as it was, is just sensationalism.

It was amazing the way Cynthia made herself into a star. She wrote books, TV interviews, serialised her story in the Daily Mail etc. Without John her life would have gone unnoticed. Ringo married Maureen when she was pregnant and later divorced her, but Maureen never played the jilted wife or ever tried to cash in on her fame. Cynthia just milked her connection with John for everything she could get, though I don't blame her.

It was because people were asking her too... she was reluctant to do things but people wanted to hear her side of the story too so she was asked to do interviews and things of that nature. Besides like someone mentioned she didn't really get a lot of money from John. Stop portraying her in this negative light. Also, Cynthia was in fact abandoned, and so was Julian, so if people ask her about the situation she's not going to sugarcoat it. John straight up left her and when he moved to the states abandoned Julian for 3 years. Learn your facts, she's not pretending this is all genuine and shit if she makes money explaining her side of the story she damn well deserves it.

I love how she said she would have been stronger to get the drugs and "users/imposters" out. She is a loving, beautiful and forgiving person. I love that she talks about her dream. It's so important to keep your dream (whatever your dream is). I love that she was more comfortable "being" and that she's not materialistic. She was in love, madly, and that she said she was vulnerable as they all were. She just wanted to be with him and that is true love. I'm so sorry that John was not a good Dad due to drugs. :( Drugs rob a child of their parent. I don't care who you are, your child is your child. Never disown your own flesh and blood. This is a big mistake and don't rob them of their inheritance. Don't let a gold digger steal your child's inheritance.

Seems to be trying his best to disturb his guest and coax her into saying some unpleasantries about her famous ex. Kudos to her for not rising to the bait and maintaining her dignity and composure during this awkward interview. JOHN LENNON might have lived to be an old man had he stayed faithful to his marriage vows and remained with her. Doubtful they would have been living in NYC in 1980 at any rate. May she RIP.

What a beautiful lady. Not the slightest sense of acrimony or bitterness, even when pushed about Lennon’s neglect of his son, Julian, after meeting Yoko Ono. Just listen to Cynthia’s gracious response when Stapleton repeatedly pushes her on this and the way she removes all the unpleasantness from his line of questioning: 3:31

She was right about the drugs changing John. I think imop, it contributed in the break up of the group, their personalities changed. John was a dope for leaving Cynthia for Yoko. Cynthia seems to be a sweet lady with a good head on her shoulders. He didn't want any support from John when they divorced. I wonder how Paul, George and Ringo felt about John leaving her? I don't think they like it.

Pretty clear from their interviews that the rest of them couldn't stand Yoko and her intrusiveness. Sir Paul was definitely wary of her and doesn't really talk about her during his interviews since he's so cordial. But Yoko upset Linda McCartney when she was dying of cancer and as a result Paul didn't invite Yoko to Linda's funeral, so that's about as much as you need to know about how much he likes her. George makes it pretty clear in interviews that he was fed up with her. Ringo seemed to be the only other Beatle who respected Yoko Ono.

Ezy Terry Reddy WHAT??? Did Yoko actually upset Linda when she was dying?? THAT'S CRUEL! I've never expected this sort of behavior from her, even knowing she isn't "The best person in the world".

I am a huge fan of the Beatles and John Lennon , but he was a terrible father to Julian and husband to Cynthia. And he abandon his son just like his father did to him at a very early age and moved to New Zealand .I do believe if he had lived longer he would have gotten to a good relationship with Julian. But of course he was robbed of that chance .My heart goes out to Julian .

Fascinating interview! I was a huge Beatles fan as a teenager in the '70s and there was a number of years where I read, watched and listened to anything having to do with them. I was aware that John Lennon's first wife was named Cynthia, but aside from seeing a few rare photos I barely knew she existed. This is the first time I've heard her speak and I'm impressed. I much prefer her over Yoko!

Millions of others like myself would definitely agree with you. Whereas Cynthia was pure class, Yoko was just an opportunistic, golddigging witch and control freak.
