I have a tip! When creating an animation folder, you can also make folders in them. So, I would have a folder that has a vector layer for the lines and a rasterize layer for the color. You can add as many layers you like in the folder.

This is my method as well, the first 3 tutorials I ever watched, the artist were doing finals and clean up on raster layers…it worked for them, but I was like what?? I couldn’t get imagine working that way as vectors and folders within folders give me so much more freedom

@@TonyG718 Hey there, i dont understand. In what way does this method have more freedom? I ask because i dont see how this is different from working solely with rasters.

@@tagnenjosephs3124 If I don’t like a particular line in my drawing, let’s say maybe a hair particle or curved object like a blade, I don’t have to erase it , I can just click on the vector points of said line art and manipulate it (Bend it, sharpen it, make it thicker/thinner, etc) and eventually change and correct the line art’s shape or form. It stays in high resolution no matter how I change the lines. I do this with all my drawings now and can never imagine drawing in raster layers again.

Been using, CSP for the last 4 years. I feel, it just needs the puppet pin tool, a better graph editor and a z-axis on the camera. And it can be a single application you need to handle every kind of animation project. Its surprising despite of the huge list of features it has compared to PS, its fairly light on the RAM or CPU.

Great video and awesome animation! Have you ever tried Blender for 2d animation? In blender each color is a material, and once you change a color, this color in all frames will change, too. That could save tons of time.

Clip Studio actually looks really nice! I use Tvpaint, but mOSTLY because i used I played with a free version for years, then had to buy it to submit a short i made. It's EXPENSIVE so I understand why people prefer alternatives. I kinda feel if i got a job in Clip Studio, I could transfer much of the stuff I learned in Tvpaint to it fairly quickly.

At 7:30 you don't need to create manually matching blank frames.. just select those rough cels (e.g. 1 to 12 cels) and right click to copy then create a new animation folder and paste those cels. now you need empty layers for those cels, so go to menu Animation / Edit Track / Create all supported cels.

OMG. YESSS!!!!! This is gonna save so much time! I was just colouring this animation in CSP with abt 67 or so frames in one folder and seriously lamenting the fact that I had to manually create corresponding frames for colouring. (I was especially peeved cuz TVPaint and Toon Boom have features that create layers with the same timing as previous layers.) Tysm for the tip!!!

Is this will be your new animation software to use? I learned from you about animating using Photoshop, but now I'm in clip studio since it has the same vibes on it, especially when changing all the arrangements and shortcuts, and it's less laggy. you might want to try putting your drawing or sketch in a folder and drag it inside the animation folder to make it a keyframe. It's really handy recycling the folder into clean lineart and color! BTW, this looks cute!

I love animating in CSP, though there are a few features that make it slower than something like flash. Most notably there's no "duplicate cel" option to transfer a current drawing to the next cel, and it would be nice to have a few more shortcuts setup for animation by default. But nothing comes close to the pencil brush and the feel of drawing for me! Thanks for showing your process with it!
@tagnenjosephs3124

Do you want to duplicate the cel so that whatever you change on the original will then affect the dupe? Or do you want to dupe the cel as a new seperate cel?

Hi, im still beginner. I like your work, May I ask how the background works? I mean should I draw the background as ilustration (not animation) first and the add it later to the project anination or... draw it in the same layer of the object animation? Im still confuse how to put the background
@OlofStorm
@OlofStorm 9 ай бұрын
Definitely on a separate layer. For a shot like this the background is just a static drawing.

When you create a new animation folder. Instead of creating a new cel in it, create a normal folder in it then create a normal layer in that folder. The normal folder will be treated as a cel in the timeline and all new cels you added after that will follow the same structure you can have as many layers as you want in a single cel. After that you can ctrl+c the contents you want from a frame, create a blank cel then paste and merge down. That's the workaround I found at least 😂
